Behcet's disease is a multisystemic vasculitis of unknown etiopathogenesis characterized by recurrent acute inflammation. We studied hydroxyamphetamine hydrobromide 1% (Paredrine) mydriasis in 54 patients with Horner's syndrome to determine its effectiveness in distinguishing preganglionic lesions from postganglionic lesions. The difference in pupillary dilation between the unaffected and affected sides was used as a measure of the hydroxyamphetamine effect. We found that patients who had clinical evidence of damage to the postganglionic neuron of the oculosympathetic pathway had less pupillary dilation on the affected side. A 17-year-old female presented to our hospital with fatigue, arthralgia and fever associated with non-granulomatous anterior uveitis in the left eye. Atropine sulfate, a mydriatic and cycloplegic agent, is frequently used in patients undergoing glaucoma surgery. Fifty-six children with JCA have attended the Rheumatology Clinic at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow, over the past five years. dl-Fenfluramine hydrochloride (60, 120, 240 mg), d-amphetamine sulfate (20, 40 mg), and placebo were compared in 8 postaddict volunteers, each dose given orally in random sequence at weekly intervals using a double-blind crossover design.
