BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to compare the differential Ki-67 and p27 staining properties of acquired cholesteatoma in adult patients for prognostic analysis.
METHODS: Forty-two adult patients with acquired cholesteatoma were enrolled. The cholesteatoma and matched meatal skin tissues of the patients were immunostained with Ki-67 and p27 antibodies. PURPOSE: To investigate the relationship between serologic markers and dry eye severity in subjects with primary Sjögren syndrome (SS).

We evaluated the clinical value of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for screening Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) in non-HIV-infected immunocompromised patients. We retrospectively analyzed PCR and Grocott's methenamine silver (GMS) staining on 1044 clinical specimens obtained from 756 patients. AIMS: To investigate the immunohistochemical profile of cervical mesonephric remnants.
METHODS AND RESULTS: Cases of mesonephric remnants, microglandular hyperplasia, tunnel clusters, tuboendometrioid metaplasia and cervical adenocarcinomas were immunohistochemically stained with Ki-67, CD10, bcl2 and p16. In this study, we investigated microsatellite instability in urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis by lack of immunohistochemical staining for MLH1 and MSH2. The study included 44 cases of urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis obtained from radical nephroureterectomy specimens at our institution. A rapid test for diagnosis of malaria based on acridine orange staining of centrifuged blood samples in a microhaematocrit tube (QBC) was compared with Leishman stained thin peripheral blood smear in 287 samples.
