The authors designed a complex of informative criteria for diagnosis and medical examination of occupational neurosensory deafness, in order to objectively form risk groups of ear diseases. The article deals with justified adequate therapeutic and prophylactic recommendations on primary and secondary prevention, that enable better quality of preliminary and periodic medical examinations of workers exposed to occupational noise.

The paper considers the CT features of vertebrogenic lumbosacral radicular lesions in patients with radicular and nonradicular lumbar ischialgias. Smoking and occupational exposure to noise are factors with independent predisposition to sensorineural hearing loss. This is a sinergistic and additive effect. Nevertheless, we have observed that withdrawal of smoking stops the progression on hearing loss in occupational groups with an acoustic exposition lesser than 80 dB SPL. Actually, there is not an unique ethiologic hypothesis.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to examine the association between maternal occupation and risk of orofacial clefts in offspring.
METHODS: Data were obtained from the Texas Birth Defects Registry and vital records for 1999 to 2009 deliveries. We used automated software to assist in classifying occupations into standard codes.
