Mucin deposit is a feature that is not commonly mentioned in textbooks when talking about rosacea. Nevertheless, it is one of the prominent findings of a severe variant of the phymatous type of rosacea known as the fibrous type. A case of disseminated cryptococcus infection in an immunocompetent host is described. The present case attests to the importance of using a cautious approach for the diagnosis of granulomatous lymphadenitis. The patient was initially misdiagnosed and treated as disseminated tuberculosis. Later the patient developed visual loss and skin lesions. Periodic Acid Schiff stained sections of lymph node biopsy and cerebrospinal fluid culture established the diagnosis.

Infants with inborn errors of fatty acid metabolism may present with apnea, periodic breathing, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Transient lower extremity paralysis has been previously reported following high voltage electrical injury. The following case report describes an unusual presentation of transient acute flaccid lower extremity paralysis following a high voltage electrical injury associated with profound hypokalemia and acid/base abnormalities similar to the periodic paralysis syndrome. The patient's symptoms resolved with correction of severe hypokalemia. Potential mechanisms for a metabolic neuromuscular disorder induced by electrical injury are proposed.
