Zygotes and 2- to 5-cell human embryos were frozen in 1,2-propanediol and sucrose; results of the first 50 cycles (45 patients) are presented. A total of 41 zygotes (17 attempts at thawing) were thawed, resulting in six singleton clinical pregnancies (15% per embryo; 35% per cycle), of which three delivered, one aborted, and two are ongoing. A 62-year-old man, with a 20-year history of seborrhoeic dermatitis, presented with a worsening of his dermatitis. Lanolin alcohols-ethylcellulose films were investigated as a potential drug delivery system for the controlled release of salicylic acid. The effects of changes in film composition, drug concentration, drug solubility, and stirrer speed on the in vitro release of salicylic acid have been examined. A method utilizing capillary GC and flame ionization detection was developed for the simultaneous determination of 1-methoxy-2-propanol (propylene glycol monomethyl ether; PGME) and its metabolite 1,2-propanediol (propylene glycol; PG) in rat and mouse plasma. The calibration graphs for rat and mouse plasma were linear with correlation coefficients at > 0.997 over the range 2-700 micrograms/ml. An optimal apigenin-loaded ethosome formulation was identified by means of uniform design experiments.
