This paper studies the staring imaging attitude tracking and control for satellite videos based on image information. An improved temporal-spatial context learning algorithm is employed to extract the image information. Based on this, a hyperbolic tangent fuzzy sliding mode control law is proposed to achieve the attitude tracking and control. Furthermore, the hyperbolic tangent function and fuzzy logic system are introduced into the sliding mode controller. In the experiments, the improved temporal-spatial context learning algorithm is applied for the image information of the space target vide

Studies in virtual reality (VR) have introduced numerous multisensory simulation techniques for more immersive VR experiences. However, although they primarily focus on expanding sensory types or increasing individual sensory quality, they lack consensus in designing appropriate interactions between different sensory stimuli. This paper explores how the congruence between auditory and visual (AV) stimuli, which are the sensory stimuli typically provided by VR devices, affects the cognition and experience of VR users as a critical interaction factor in promoting multisensory integration. We def

Introduction: Simulation-based learning and hands-on learning are popular in medicine, particularly in areas where life-saving manoeuvres and team skills are required. Simulations can be provided in different environments: directly in hospitals (in situ), in dedicated facilities (simulation rooms) or, on occasion, at scientific meetings, thus taking advantage of the delegates' motivation. Simulation-based learning in extracorporeal life support is also increasingly relevant due to the inherent features of the often difficult and emergent decision-making, approaches and management involved, as

The simplest sugar-glyceraldehyde (HOCH2CH(OH)CHO)-represents a central molecule in the biochemistry of all lifeforms (glycolysis/gluconeogenesis). Linking photosynthesis and carbon fixation to sugar metabolism is fundamental to the liberation of energy from sugars and is the point at which glycolysis becomes exothermic-the pay-off phase. By exploiting isomer-selective photoionization reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometry, glyceraldehyde and its energetic enol isomer 1,2,3-propenetriol (HOCH2C(OH)CHOH) are identified in situ during space-simulation experiments as reaction products of rad

Onboard electrostatic suspension inertial sensors are important applications for gravity satellites and space gravitational-wave detection missions, and it is important to suppress noise in the measurement signal. Due to the complex coupling between the working space environment and the satellite platform, the process of noise generation is extremely complex, and traditional noise modeling and subtraction methods have certain limitations. With the development of deep learning, applying it to high-precision inertial sensors to improve the signal-to-noise ratio is a practically meaningful task.

Aiming at the on-orbit safety problem of the two-dimensional tracking servo system for space, based on ant colony optimization (ACO) and expert systems, this paper proposes a fault diagnosis and handling strategy of the two-dimensional (2D) tracking servo system for space. Specifically, a fault library was established for the tracking servo system according to field observations. The ACO was called to optimize the classification of fault features. In addition, sensitivity and specificity were defined to evaluate the classification performance of the diagnosis rules found by the ant colony, aim

Vocalization in mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians occurs with airways that have wide openings to free-space for efficient sound radiation, but sound is also produced with occluded or semi-occluded airways that have small openings to free-space. It is hypothesized that pressures produced inside the airway with semi-occluded vocalizations have an overall widening effect on the airway. This overall widening then provides more opportunity to produce wide-narrow contrasts along the airway for variation in sound quality and loudness. For human vocalization described here, special emphasis is

Classical psychoanalysis has traditionally focused on uncovering unconscious conflicts through language-the so-called `talking cure`. However, contemporary research underscores the importance of embodied simulation, body language, and their symbolic representation in understanding and addressing patient's somatic symptoms. This occurs particularly when individuals seeking psychological help are unable to use spoken words to express their feelings, which is why communication between patient and therapist takes place at a pre-verbal level, within the space of "intercorporeality." In this paper w

Explorations of the Moon and Mars are planned as future manned space missions, during which humans will be exposed to both radiation and microgravity. We do not, however, know the health effects for such combined exposures. In a ground-based experiment, we evaluated the combined effects of radiation and simulated microgravity on tumorigenesis by performing X-irradiation and tail suspension in C3B6F1 ApcMin/+ mice, a well-established model for intestinal tumorigenesis. Mice were irradiated at 2 weeks of age and underwent tail suspension for 3 or 11 weeks using a special device that avoids damag

Sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES) is a common anionic surfactant used in a large number of personal care products. Commercial products typically contain a distribution in the number of ethoxy groups; despite this, there is limited existing work studying the effect of the ethoxy groups on the phase formation and structure. This is particularly important for the effect the structure has on the viscosity, an important consideration for commercial products. Dissipative particle dynamics is used to simulate the full phase diagram of SLES in water, including both micellar and lyotropic liquid cryst

The potential of quantitative ultrasound (QUS) to assess the regular cellular spacing in the superficial cartilage zones was investigated experimentally and numerically. Nine osteochondral samples, extracted from two human cadaver knee joints, were measured using a 50-MHz ultrasound scanning device and evaluated using Mankin score. Simulated backscattered power spectra from models with an idealized cell alignment exhibited a pronounced frequency peak. From the peak, cell spacing in the range between 15 and 40 μm between cell layers was detected with an average error of 0.2 μm. The mean QUS-bas

With the imminent human exploration of deep space, it is more important than ever to understand the biological risks of deep space radiation exposure. The BioSentinel mission will be the first biological payload to study the effects of radiation beyond low Earth orbit in 50 years. This study is the last in a collection of articles about the BioSentinel biological CubeSat mission, where budding yeast cells will be used to investigate the response of a biological organism to long-term, low-dose deep space radiation. In this study, we define the methodology for detecting the biological response t

The space environment exposes astronauts to risks of acute and chronic exposure to ionizing radiation. Of particular concern is possible exposure to ionizing radiation from a solar particle event (SPE). During an SPE, magnetic disturbances in specific regions of the Sun result in the release of intense bursts of ionizing radiation, primarily consisting of protons that have a highly variable energy spectrum. Thus, SPE events can lead to significant total body radiation exposures to astronauts in space vehicles and especially while performing extravehicular activities. Simulated energy profiles

To better perform space missions and develop human spaceflights, the eye health of astronauts is receiving increasing attention from researchers. In this study, we used prolonged tail suspension to simulate microgravity cephalad fluid shift in space to observe intraocular pressure (IOP) changes, retinal structure, and optic nerve damage in rats. We observed significant choroidal thickening and optic nerve demyelination lesions in the rats in each experimental group. At the cellular level, retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) survival was significantly reduced, optic nerve oligodendrocytes were reduce

INTRODUCTION: As human space exploration advances, the risk of infection faced by astronauts has also become apparent. However, the impact of sepsis on the body under weightlessness remains unclear.
METHODS: A rat model of sepsis under simulated weightlessness was preliminarily established by combining hindlimb unloading with cecal ligation and puncture. The effects of simulated weightlessness on the early progression of sepsis in rats were systematically evaluated through assessments of mortality, hematological parameters, inflammatory markers, coagulation function, organ function, and histo

A model is presented to compare the separability of cell populations described by features measured in low resolution slit-scanning flow systems with their separability when the features are extracted from high resolution digitized cell images. The results show that although the accuracy of the feature measurements deteriorates for increasing slit width, this is not necessarily true for the discriminatory power of the features. Depending on their original position in the high resolution feature space, the cell populations may be located even farther apart in the space of low resolution slit-sc

Lightweight, high stability, and high-temperature adaptability are the primary considerations when designing the primary mirror of a micro/nano satellite remote sensing camera. In this paper, the optimized design and experimental verification of the large-aperture primary mirror of the space camera with a diameter of Φ610 mm is carried out. First, the design performance index of the primary mirror was determined according to the coaxial tri-reflective optical imaging system. Then, SiC, with excellent comprehensive performance, was selected as the primary mirror material. The initial structural

Humans in hazardous environments take actions to reduce unnecessary risk, including limiting exposure to radioactive materials where ionising radiation can be a threat to human health. Robots can adopt the same approach of risk avoidance to minimise exposure to radiation, therefore limiting damage to electronics and materials. Reducing a robot's exposure to radiation results in longer operational lifetime and better return on investment for nuclear sector stakeholders. This work achieves radiation avoidance through the use of layered costmaps, to inform path planning algorithms of this additio

Our understanding of human tool use comes mainly from neuropsychology, particularly from patients with apraxia or action disorganization syndrome. However, there is no integrative, theoretical framework explaining what these neuropsychological syndromes tell us about the cognitive/neural bases of human tool use. The goal of the present article is to fill this gap, by providing a theoretical framework for the study of human tool use: The Four Constraints Theory (4CT). This theory rests on two basic assumptions. First, everyday tool use activities can be formalized as multiple problem situations

Computational fluid dynamics simulation of stenosed arteries allows the analysis of quantities including wall shear stress, velocity, and pressure; detailed in vivo measurement is difficult yet the analysis of the fluid dynamics related to stenosis is important in understanding the likely causes and ongoing effects on the integrity of the vessel. In this study, a three-dimensional Large Eddy Simulation is conducted of a 50% occluded vessel, with a typical femoral artery profile used as the transient inlet conditions. The fluid is assumed to be homogenous, Newtonian and incompressible and the w
