BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is a leading cause of mortality among Thai women. Breast self-examination (BSE) is a low-cost practice that promotes breast health awareness and familiarity with breast changes; however, adherence and correct technique remain suboptimal, partly due to limited guidance and reminder systems. Mobile health (mHealth) interventions could support BSE practice.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to develop VCheck, a culturally tailored mHealth app for Thai women, and conduct a formative evaluation of its usability and feasibility.
METHODS: A user-centered design framework guided

Population aging and rising rehabilitation demands highlight the need for advanced assistive devices to improve mobility in individuals with motor impairments. Existing back-support lifting nursing beds often lack adequate human-machine adaptability, safety, and emotional consideration. This study presents a human-centered, data-driven optimization pipeline that integrates behavior-emotion dual recognition, simulation verification, and parameter optimization with user demand mining, biomechanical simulation, and sustainable practices. The design utilizes GreenAI, focusing on low-power algorith

Digital health technologies offer substantial potential to support physical activity among older adults, yet their development and implementation often remain driven by technological possibilities rather than clinical evidence and user needs. This position paper, developed within the PhysAgeNet COST Action, synthesizes current evidence and expert consensus to provide recommendations for designing, evaluating, and implementing technology-assisted physical activity interventions for older adults. We first outline key technology categories and functions relevant to physical activity promotion, in

The use of software and IoT services is increasing significantly among people with special needs, who constitute 15% of the world's population. However, selecting appropriate services to create a composite assistive service based on the evolving needs and context of disabled user groups remains a challenging research endeavor. Our research applies a scenario-based design technique to contribute (1) an inclusive disability ontology for assistive service selection, (2) semi-synthetic generated disability service datasets, and (3) a machine learning (ML) framework to choose services adaptively to

As human-AI collaboration becomes more pervasive, optimizing the distribution of decision-making authority between humans and AI has become a fundamental concern in human-centered AI design. The impacts of different human-AI collaboration modes (human-dominant, human-AI collaboration, and AI-dominant) on users' eudaimonic well-being, as well as the underlying psychological transmission mechanisms, remain poorly understood. Grounded in self-determination theory, we propose a serial mediation framework linking human-AI collaboration modes to eudaimonic well-being via the sequential mechanisms of

BACKGROUND: Sexual and gender minority (SGM) adolescents in the United States are disproportionately affected by HIV. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a highly effective biomedical HIV prevention method, but its awareness and uptake among SGM adolescents are low. There are no adolescent-centered PrEP social marketing campaigns in the United States that have the potential to increase awareness and interest in PrEP.
OBJECTIVE: To address this gap, this qualitative study aims to examine SGM adolescents' needs and preferences regarding adolescent-centered PrEP social marketing campaigns.

STUDY OBJECTIVE: "Blind" procedures are performed without visual feedback and rely on haptics to complete the operation safely "by feel." Current training methods, including static models, cadaver sections, or supervised practice on patients, are expensive, time-consuming, and could impact patient safety. Simulation trainers that provide haptic feedback are still limited in their ability to reproduce realistic feel and accurately provide performance data. This study describes the concept, development, and usability evaluation of the SlingVR Surgical Training System for "blind" procedures.

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs are recognized as effective in reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease. However, CR programs are offered inequitably across regions and are available in less than 15% of remote areas worldwide. The main goal of this study was to design a CR program adapted to the contexts of remote areas to improve the service offered to patients.
METHODS: We used an iterative user-centered design approach to understand the user context and services offered in cardiac rehabilitation in remote

High cholesterol levels significantly contribute to the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ACVD), with a notable portion of ischemic heart disease cases linked to elevated cholesterol levels. Effective graphical displays of lipid panel tests and other cardiac risk factors are crucial for quick and accurate data interpretation, enabling early intervention for individuals with hyperlipidemia. Applying design theories such as Gestalt and distributed cognitive theories is essential for creating user-centered graphical data displays in the context of cardiovascular (CV) risk factors. T

BACKGROUND: Dysphagia poses a major challenge due to its clinical, psychosocial and care-related implications. Older adults with underlying neurogenic conditions are particularly vulnerable. However, despite the availability of effective therapeutic approaches, outpatient dysphagia care is often characterized by structural shortcomings such as long therapy waiting times, insufficient frequency of therapy sessions, or a lack of diagnostic equipment due to specialist staff shortages. Digital health applications may offer potential support, yet their use in dysphagia management remains limited. T

PURPOSE: People living with dementia and their care partners identify interactions with the healthcare system as among their greatest challenges. Many hospital staff do not feel prepared to care for people living with dementia. This contributes to poor outcomes for patients living with dementia, frustration and confusion for care partners, and distress for hospital staff.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: An academic project team with expertise in education, geriatrics, simulation, and community engagement, who had previously developed dementia-friendly training materials for classroom and community use,
