BACKGROUND: Nonagenarians are typically considered poor operative candidates for major aortic intervention because of shorter life expectancy, multiple comorbidities, and increased perioperative morbidity and mortality. Endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) has clearly been associated with a lower perioperative morbidity and mortality in most anatomically suitable patients. There have been many reports of the technical success of EVAR in octogenarians, but few documenting EVAR in nonagenarians. In this study, we sought to review our experience with elective EVAR in nonagenarians

AIM: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of the preoperative diameter of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) upon the midterm outcome obtained by endovascular AAA repair, using a third-generation endovascular device, the Excluder bifurcated endoprosthesis (W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. Sunnyvale, CA, USA).
METHODS: The data of 676 patients, who had undergone endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) were analysed. Patients were enrolled over a 6-year period to April 2004 in the EUROSTAR database. Outcomes were compared between 2 groups defined by the preoperative diameter of the aneur

OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to present the results of the multicenter EVT/Guidant aorto-uni-iliac trial and to compare them with the tube, bifurcated graft, and open control series in regard to patient demographics, medical comorbidity, 30-day morbidity/mortality, and outcome at 1 year.
METHODS: One hundred twenty-one patients not eligible for tube or bifurcated endografts were entered into the aorto-uni-iliac trial (A-I). These were compared with 153 patients in a tube (T) group, 268 patients in a bifurcated endograft (BI) group, and 111 patients in an open control (C) group. All data were

INTRODUCTION: Endovascular procedures for repair of Type B aortic dissection have become increasingly common and are often considered to be first line therapy for acute complicated dissections. The long term durability of these repairs is largely undefined.
METHODS: The Virtue Registry is a prospective, non-randomised, multi centre European Clinical Registry designed to inform on the clinical and morphological outcomes of 100 patients with Type B aortic dissection treated with the Medtronic Valiant thoracic stent graft. Patients with acute, sub-acute and chronic Type B dissections will be pro

AIM: We present a case of successful endovascular repair of late ruptured aortic anastomotic pseudoaneurysm following previous left subclavian artery-descending thoracic aorta bypass and concomitant emergency thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) of complicated endovascular aortic de-coarctation never previously described is also presented. A review of the intraoperative, 30-day, and follow-up morbidity, mortality, and complications of TEVAR as endovascular treatment of late aneurysm/pseudoaneurysms after surgical aortic de-coarctation was also performed.
METHODS: The systematic review

PURPOSE: As a minimally invasive strategy for the treatment of patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), endovascular repair has been embraced with enthusiasm because of the promise of achieving a durable result with a reduced risk of perioperative morbidity and mortality. Our mid-term experience with endovascular AAA repair was assessed by examining early and late clinical outcome in concurrent cohorts of patients stratified either as low-risk or as at increased-risk for intervention.
METHODS: From April 1994 to December 1999, endovascular AAA repair was performed in 104 patients with c

OBJECTIVE: Many endografts are currently available for standard endovascular repair of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms. Comparison of long-term outcomes between devices might aid in this decision process, but comparative data are scarce. The purpose of this study was to report long-term clinical outcomes of two commercially available endoprosthesis, the Endurant (Medtronic Vascular, Inc, Minneapolis, Minn) and the Excluder (W. L. Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, Ariz) stent grafts.
METHODS: Patients undergoing standard endovascular repair from July 2004 to December 2011 in a single institu

OBJECTIVE: To describe a single-center experience of "complete aortic repair" consisting of surgical or endovascular total arch replacement/repair (TAR) followed by thoracoabdominal fenestrated-branched endovascular aortic repair (FB-EVAR).
METHODS: We reviewed 480 consecutive patients who underwent FB-EVAR with physician-modified endografts (PMEGs) or manufactured stent-grafts between 2013 and 2022. From those, we selected only patients treated with open or endovascular arch repair and distal FB-EVAR for aneurysms involving the ascending, arch and thoracoabdominal aortic segments (zones 0-9)

BACKGROUND: Controversy exists about technique of repair for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (rAAA). We studied rAAA treated at a single tertiary center from 2005 to 2015 to determine operative morbidity and mortality in open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) of rAAA.
METHODS: All rAAA (n = 144) treated from 2005 to 2015 were reviewed using an IRB-approved database. "EVAR first" strategy was used after 2010. rAAA treatment was open (rAAA began with open surgery); EVAR (rAAA began with EVAR and included EVARs converted to open); and EVAR only (successful EVAR). OBJECTIVE: Branched and fenestrated repair has been shown to be effective for treatment of complex aortic aneurysms. However, the long-term durability of branches is not well reported.
METHODS: Prospective data collected for all patients enrolled in a physician-sponsored investigational device exemption trial for branched and fenestrated endografts were analyzed. Retrospective review of imaging studies and electronic records was used to supplement the dataset. Incidences of branch stent secondary intervention, stent fracture, migration, branch-related rupture, and death were calculated. A tim

OBJECTIVE: The introduction of low-profile stent grafts (LPSGs) has proven to be a useful option despite initial concerns. The aim of this study was to analyze and compare the outcomes of standard-profile stent grafts (SPSGs) versus LPSG in a cohort of patients treated for thoracoabdominal (TAAA) and complex abdominal (CAAA) aortic aneurysms.
METHODS: A multi-center cohort study based on a retrospective analysis of consecutive patients admitted for the treatment of TAAA and CAAA using fenestrated and/or branched endovascular aneurysm repair (FB-EVAR) was performed. Outcomes were compared in p
