OBJECTIVE: This study was performed on 70 injured wild birds belonging to 7 different species in the Cappadocia region between 2005 and 2009. All birds were inspected for ectoparasites and 29 of 70 (41.4%) birds were found to be infested by at least one chewing louse species.

BACKGROUND: Allergic and irritant contact dermatitis to food is likely underreported.
OBJECTIVES: To characterize relevant allergens and irritants associated with food in patients referred to the North American Contact Dermatitis Group (NACDG) for patch testing.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of cross-sectional data from the NACDG from 2001 to 2004.
RESULTS: Of 10,061 patch-tested patients, 109 (1.1%) had a total of 122 reactions associated with food. Approximately two-thirds of patients (66%) were female, and one-third (36%) were atopic. The hands were the most common sites of dermatitis

Periorbital dermatitis is common and can be due to the external use of ophthalmic drugs. We evaluated patch test results of the Information Network of the Departments of Dermatology. The most common reaction to fragrance materials seen by practicing dermatologists is allergic contact dermatitis. Photodermatitis is occasionally seen, as is contact urticaria, irritation, and depigmentation. Fragrances are the leading cause of allergic contact dermatitis due to cosmetics. The fragrance mixture can cause false-positive reactions; therefore, it is more desirable to test with a separate series of fragrance materials.
