UNLABELLED: We compared onset of efficacy (during days 1 to 6) of 2 coxibs (rofecoxib, celecoxib) with acetaminophen and nabumetone by using a prespecified approach to data from 4 similarly designed 6-week randomized osteoarthritis trials. In 2 trials, rofecoxib (12.5 mg and 25 mg once daily) was compared with celecoxib (200 mg once daily) and acetaminophen (4000 mg daily). In the other 2 trials, rofecoxib (12.5 mg) was compared with nabumetone (1000 mg once daily) and placebo. This study investigated the effects of silver carp muscle hydrolysate (SCMH) on volatile odor characteristics in frozen dough (FD) and its derived products using electronic nose and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analyses. Results demonstrated that steamed bread (SB) prepared from SCMH-incorporated FD after six freeze-thaw cycles exhibited significantly improved specific volume, textural properties, and gas-cell structure compared to controls (p < 0.05). In order to study the pattern of changes in quality of marinated Chinese mitten crabs (Eriocheir sinensis) during cold storage, three aspects of sensory, taste and odor were investigated. Sensory evaluation and total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) were measured in viscera and abdomen muscle at 0, 7, 15 and 30 days of storage at 4°C. Landfill sites are regarded as sources of volatile compounds (VOCs) and odors emitted to the atmosphere. Surface emissions of VOCs and odors were investigated in a rural domestic waste landfill site located in southwest China. Pseudoporphyria cutanea tarda is a well described bullous skin disorder which resembles porphyria cutanea tarda. However, the levels of porphyrins in plasma, urine and faeces are normal. We present three cases of patients with classical symptoms of pseudoporphyria. Two of the patients developed pseudoporphyria after the combination of intensive sunbathing and medications well known to cause pseudoporphyria. The third case received haemodialysis and furosemide.
