Attitudes as a Critical Mediator Between Schistosomiasis Knowledge and Practices Among Students, with Implications for Behavior Change Interventions - Pemba Island, Zanzibar, Tanzania, 2024.

WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN ABOUT THIS TOPIC?: Despite mass drug administration (MDA) programs in Zanzibar, schistosomiasis transmission persists due to behavioral gaps, and prior studies in sub-Saharan Africa consistently reveal significant knowledge-practice disparities where improved knowledge alone fails to translate into preventive behaviors. WHAT IS ADDED BY THIS REPORT?: We quantified that attitudes are a pivotal mediator, accounting for 68.35% of knowledge's effect on schistosomiasis prevention practices among Zanzibari students. This finding, from a 2024 cross-sectional study on Pemba Isla

Public misconception can impact informed decision making, and therefore, it is important to educate the community with accurate and realistic representations of modern ECT. The aim of this study was to determine whether exposure to brief information packages developed in Australia leads to changes in attitudes and knowledge about ECT. METHODS: A sample of 100 undergraduate psychology students and 88 volunteers from the general public were randomly allocated to vi

Exploring the Underutilized Potential of Clinical Hypnosis: A Scoping Review of Healthcare Professionals' Perceptions, Knowledge, and Attitudes.

The perceptions, knowledge, and attitudes of healthcare professionals (GPs, oncologists, nurses, midwives and obstetricians, anesthetists, mental health professionals, and other professionals) toward hypnosis are explored in this scoping review. Despite proven effectiveness in various health conditions, the use of hypnosis in healthcare has stagnated, emphasizing a gap between research and practice. Data from 35 studies (1995-2023) were analyzed, revealing predominantly positive attitudes and interest in training. Professionals with more knowledge and experience had favorable attitudes toward

Association between thyroid disorders and oral health: OHRQoL, KAP and self-rated oral health assessment-A structural equation modelling approach.

Thyroid disorders influence oral health through metabolic, immune, and behavioural changes, affecting oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). This cross-sectional study among 254 patients with thyroid disorders in Tamil Nadu evaluated OHRQoL, knowledge, attitude, practices (KAP), and self-rated oral health (SROH) using validated Tamil tools. Participants exhibited moderate knowledge and practices, positive attitudes, and moderate OHRQoL impairment. Knowledge showed positive correlations with attitude and practice but a negative relationship with SROH. Regression analysis identified knowl

Food Safety Practices Among Small-Scale Produce Growers Exempt from Federal Regulations: A Systematic Literature Review.

Small-scale produce growers exempt from the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule (PSR) are not required to follow federal food safety standards, yet their practices have direct implications for public health. The extent to which knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors (KAB) influence voluntary adoption of PSR-aligned practices in this group remains unclear. This systematic literature review aimed to examine self-reported food safety behaviors and willingness to adopt practices among FSMA-exempt small-scale growers. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews

Knowledge, attitude and risky practices on schistosomiasis in Ethiopia: A scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Despite many years of intervention measures, schistosomiasis (SCH) remains a public health problem in Ethiopia. Health education and promotion enable community involvement and active participation in SCH control and prevention. Therefore, it is considered as one of the key strategies to prevent and control SCH in Ethiopia. However, comprehensive data on the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of vulnerable populations towards the disease are lacking. Therefore, we reviewed the existing KAP studies in Ethiopia. METHODS: Studies conducted in Ethiopia and published between 2006 an
