Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy with previous holmium laser enucleation of the prostate is challenging, and few studies have analyzed its perioperative, functional, and oncological outcomes. Here we retrospectively evaluated 298 robot-assisted radical prostatectomies, including 25 with and 273 without previous holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, performed in 2015-2022. Regarding perioperative outcomes, operative and console times were significantly longer in the previous holmium laser enucleation of the prostate group. In contrast, the estimated blood loss was similar between group

We report three cases with severe anastomotic strictures, which recurred several times after radical prostatectomy despite repeated treatments of urethral dilation, internal urethrotomy and/or transurethral resection. All three cases were finally treated with holmium laser successfully without any intraoperative or postoperative complications after repeated failures of each treatment. There were two specific characteristics in these three cases: the early onset of the stricture and the pinhole opening located on the top (12-o'clock) of the stricture wall.

PURPOSE: Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) effectively removes obstructive prostate tissue in minimally invasive fashion. We present our large enucleation outcomes (greater than 75 gm retrieved). We examined post-procedural prostate specific antigen (PSA) and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) volume changes to assess tissue removal completeness.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed HoLEPs performed from April 1, 1999 through September 30, 2002 to identify all enucleations greater than 75 gm. Demographic, laboratory, operative and pathological data were obtained. Pati

We report here on the efficacy and safety of three arthroscopic procedures using a Holmium: Yag laser in two high-responder haemophiliacs. The two patients were treated with an activated prothrombin complex concentrate (FEIBA; Immuno, Vienna, Austria). Treatment was started just before surgery and continued for 4-8 days. On one occasion antifibrinolytics were concomitantly used without thromboembolic complication. Post-operative blood loss was slight, joint mobility was rapidly acceptable and full weight bearing without pain was possible on day 4. Such a procedure would appear to be superior t

PURPOSE: Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) is a size-independent surgical treatment for benign prostatic hypertrophy. There is currently a lack of data on peri-operative antibiotic prescribing patterns for HoLEP and, thus, no consensus on optimal practices. This study aims to assess peri-operative antibiotic prescribing practices for HoLEP.
METHODS: Members of the Endourological Society (EUS) were invited by e-mail to complete a REDCap survey. The survey inquired about surgeons' practice setting, training, surgical volume, antibiotic prescribing practices and explored differen

BACKGROUND: Thermal control is pivotal for preventing ureter thermal injury during laser lithotripsy; however, patient-based studies have rarely addressed this topic. In recent years, we have employed a ureter catheter for irrigation drainage and measured temperature changes during lithotripsy. The aim of this study was to evaluate the thermal control effect of this strategy in ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy.
METHODS: From September 2022 to June 2024, patients who underwent ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy at our centre were included in this retrospective cohort study. Patient

BACKGROUND: Transient urinary incontinence (UI) is distressing event following holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). Novel technique namely, veil sparing HoLEP (VS-HoLEP), was proposed to improve early continence outcome. In this trial (NCT03494049), VS-HoLEP was compared to standard HoLEP (St-HoLEP).
METHODS: VS-HoLEP entails early apical separation with sparing of ventral apical mucosal veil proximal to the verumontanum. Eligible symptomatic BPH patients were randomly allocated to St-HoLEP (91) and VS-HoLEP (89). The primary outcome was UI as depicted by one-hour pad test at on
