In order to avoid contact between silicone oil and the cornea and subsequent painful corneal dystrophy in aniridial eyes, an artificial iris diaphragm was constructed. It consists of polymethylacrylat (PMMA) and simulates the situation of the iris with a central pupillary opening and inferior iridectomy. A 34-year-old man in good general health became bilaterally totally blind by an unusual retinochoroidal degenerative disease 3 years after the initial onset of visual symptoms. The advanced stages of the retinochoroidal disease were associated with bilateral progressive iris necrosis and severe ocular pain. The constellation of findings and course of this disease represent a clinical entity that has not been previously described in the literature.

A case is presented of generalised siderosis resulting from a foreign body lodged in the iris. The diagnosis was made 10 years after the initial injury, when the patient presented with another, quite unrelated, eye injury. The metal particle was removed after tests revealed that ocular function was impaired with raised intra ocular pressure, severe field loss and an abnormal electroretinogram (E.R.G.).

Two cases of central retinal venous thrombosis with gross involvement of the arterial supply to the retina are described. The iris fluorescein angiography showed massive leakage of dye into the anterior chamber. The iris angiographic findings in 48 cases of central venous thrombosis are compared with those of 19 patients with central retinal artery occlusion. The article presents clinical and functional results of model C iris-lens diaphragm (ILD) implantation to patients with aniridia or large iris defects. BACKGROUND: With the advent of targeted therapies, the survival prognosis for metastatic tumors has extended, and it has become necessary to diagnose and consider treatment that takes into account Quality of Life for metastatic tumors of the eye. The reports of checking tumor marker in the aqueous humor for diagnosis of metastatic intraocular tumors are few. Here, we report a case of masquerade syndrome with secondary glaucoma in which a high carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) level in the aqueous humor could assist diagnosis, and continuing targeted therapy and trabeculectomy were effective.

BACKGROUND: Iris cyst can lead to iridocyclitis, angle closure, secondary glaucoma, corneal decompensation, band keratopathy, cataract, subluxation of the lens, or visual disturbance leading to amblyopia or strabismus.
