We present two cases of patients experiencing needle track seeding after undergoing percutaneous ethanol injection therapy (PEIT) for small hepatocellular carcinoma, who were treated by surgical resection of the metastases. A survey of published cases of extraneural metastases of primary brain tumours in children under the age of 18 years revealed 245 cases; 60.7% occurred in boys and 27.3% were directly related to the placing of a shunt. Invasive transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder is known to extend directly to other organs in the pelvis. When metastases occur they almost always adhere to a rather consistent pattern of dissemination. We present an unusual case of partial obstruction of the sigmoid colon due to a metastatic transitiocellular bladder tumour four months after transurethral resection of the tumour complicated with a perforation into the peritoneal cavity. Direct implantation of the tumour with the resectoscope is the most possible explanation, but seeding on an intact serosa cannot be excluded either.

CASE REPORT: A 27-year-old nulliparous unmarried patient underwent laparoscopic myomectomy with morcellation for a submucosal myoma at the National Taiwan University Hospital (Taipei, Taiwan). Seven years later, an asymptomatic pelvic tumor was noted during a regular annual follow up. Two pelvic tumors were detected and excised by laparoscopic surgery. Carcinoma arising in a thymic cyst is very rare. We performed thoracoscopic subtotal resection of an assumed benign cyst. The patient had a reoperation when the diagnosis of papillary adenocarcinoma was established. Complete resection and pleural thermochemotherapy were performed. The patient died 26 months later from systemic metastases. Caution must be exercised when managing nontypical thymic cysts.
