INTRODUCTION: Malignant mesothelioma (MM) of tunica vaginalis is a very rare tumor and it has a poor prognosis. It is not easy to diagnose the disease preoperatively because there is a lack of comprehensive studies and information about the disease. Splenogonadal fusion (SGF) is a rare congenital anomaly in boys and girls. It commonly presents as a testicular mass treated with an unnecessary orchiectomy. Two cases of paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma are reported. A 15-year-old boy was admitted in July, 1983, with a 3-week history of gradually increasing painless scrotal swelling on the right side. With the suspicion of testicular cancer, right radical orchiectomy was performed and pathological examination revealed an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the paratesticular region. Fertility of operated monolateral Cryptorchides has been evaluated in a long term follow up comparing the patients who underwent orchidopexy with patients who underwent orchiectomy. From our experience, as well as from various Author's reports, patients who underwent orchiectomy demonstrated a two fold of fertility compared to the group who underwent orchidopexy.

BACKGROUND: Metastatic germ cell tumors of the testis (GCTs) are risk-stratified according to the International Germ Cell Cancer Collaborative Group (IGCCCG) classification system. BACKGROUND: Unlike in other mouse models of atherogenesis, it has recently been suggested that orchiectomy plays a role in accelerating atherosclerosis and inhibiting the progression of cardiovascular disease in the ApoE-/-:Ins2+/Akita mouse model of hyperglycemia. Androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) is a common treatment for prostate cancer, a population with high prevalence of cardiovascular disease and its risk factors. Our objectives were to test and further characterize the effects of pharmacological castration which is currently the acceptable modality to deliver ADT in the clinic.

PURPOSE: We reviewed the presentation and clinical findings in an unusual scrotal mass seen in children.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This review involves a detailed description of 2 cases of splenogonadal fusion, and a complete survey and assessment of the published literature on this subject.
RESULTS: A detailed assessment of 137 cases (135 previously reported, 2 added) of splenogonadal fusion was undertaken. Splenogonadal fusion can be classified as either continuous or discontinuous type. The disorder was rarely recognized before surgery.

We report paternity by assisted fertilization in 3 highly oligospermic patients with stage-I unilateral testicular germ cell tumor and contralateral carcinoma in situ. If such patients plan future paternity, surveillance is the optimal treatment allowing maximal recovery of spermatogenesis after orchiectomy. Multiple semen cryopreservations should be done during the first post-orchiectomy year.
