Failures and complications in 391 consecutively inserted fixed prostheses supported by Brånemark implants in edentulous jaws: a study of treatment from the time of prosthesis placement to the first annual checkup.

A total of 391 edentulous maxillae and mandibles was consecutively treated with routine fixed prostheses, supported by 2,199 implants. The patients were followed for 1 year; the overall success rate was 99.5% and 98.1% for the prostheses and implants, respectively. The number of severe complications was low, but it was possible to identify a significantly higher ratio of problems in the maxillae throughout the observation period than for the mandibles. While many problems occurred in both the maxillae and mandibles, there were also problems more typical for each jaw. Diction and fractures of r

In-vitro mechanical performance of three CAD-CAM bar designs for implant-supported metal-resin hybrid prostheses: a preliminary pilot study.

BACKGROUND: Implant-supported hybrid metal-resin prostheses are widely used to rehabilitate edentulous patients. However, fractures of the veneering resin and screw complications remain common mechanical failures. Advances in CAD-CAM design and laser sintering technology may improve the structural integrity of these restorations. AIMS: To conduct a preliminary in-vitro evaluation of the fracture resistance of veneering resin in three CAD-CAM-designed bar configurations fabricated by laser sintering, describing their mechanical behavior and failure patterns under compressive stress. METHODS:

Polyetheretherketone Framework for Implant-supported Full-arch Fixed Dental Prostheses in a Periodontitis Patient with a 6-year Follow-up: a Case Report.

Dental implants are widely used in the rehabilitation of patients with edentulous jaws caused by periodontitis. The success of implants is closely related to their framework material and patients' periodontal health. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a kind of high polymer material that has broad prospects as the framework for full-arch dental prostheses, but long-term follow-up data are lacking. The present clinical report demonstrates the use of a PEEK framework for the construction of an implant-supported full-arch fixed dental prosthesis for a patient diagnosed with periodontitis. Oral rehabilitation of patients with Chediak-Higashi syndrome using zygoma and root form implant-supported fixed prostheses: A report of two patients.

Chediak-Higashi syndrome (CH-S) is a rare genetic immunodeficiency disorder. Fewer than 500 individuals with CH-S have been reported worldwide in the past 20 years. The dental management of patients in whom CH-S has been diagnosed has been rarely reported and only in the form of a case report. All reports addressed the severe periodontal disease found in those patients, and most studies concluded that periodontal treatment had an unfavorable prognosis. As a result, complete edentulism at an early age because of severe periodontal disease is expected. The purpose of this report was to present 2

Complete mouth reconstruction with implant-supported fixed partial dental prostheses fabricated with zirconia frameworks: a 4-year clinical follow-up.

Few scientific reports regarding the success of complete mouth partial fixed dental prostheses frameworks fabricated with zirconia are available, especially when dental implants serve as the abutments. A complete mouth reconstruction with zirconia frameworks veneered with feldspathic porcelain is reported involving a 65-year-old white woman who presented with partial edentulism and an unrestorable remaining dentition. After examination, 14 implants were planned (8 in the maxillary arch and 6 in the mandibular arch), and implant-supported zirconia framework screw-retained partial fixed dental p
