[Relationship between voice spectrum analysis and psychoacoustic evaluation in patients with vocal cords polyps].

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the significance of selected acoustic parameters, to determine their usfulness in monitoring effects of treatments, to correlate them to other clinical voice tests (such as aerodynamic measurements, stroboscopic examination, psychoacoustic evaluation), and to determin if there were correlations among the acoustic parameters. The results showed that pitch perturbation quotient (PPQ), amplitude perturbation quotient (APQ), normalized noise energy a and b (NNEa and NNEb) were positively related to the regularity (REG) in the vocal cord polyp. In the pre

Primary hyperparathyroidism. Changing clinical spectrum, prevalence of hypertension, and discriminant analysis of laboratory tests.

The clinical spectrum of 100 consecutive cases of surgically proved primary hyperparathyroidism treated from 1974 through 1978 was analyzed. Their laboratory test results were compared with 64 cases of other form of hypercalcemia using multivariate discriminant analysis. The clinical spectrum has dramatically shifted during the past three decades from renal calculi and bone disease to the asymptomatic patient discovered by routine serum chemical analysis. Hypertension was twice as common among hyperparathyroid patients as in the general population but failed to improve in 92% after parathyroid

A case-control analysis: changes in gut microbiota composition in children with autism spectrum disorder.

BACKGROUND: Gut microbiota dysbiosis has been increasingly implicated in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with the gut-brain axis proposed as a potential mechanistic link. However, ASD-specific microbial signatures remain inconsistent across studies, and whether reported associations reflect primary dysbiosis or ASD-related confounders such as dietary restriction and gastrointestinal comorbidities remains debated. METHODS: A case-control study was conducted enrolling 54 children with ASD and 46 age- and sex-matched typically developing (TD) children. Full-length 16S rRNA gene sequencing was pe

Marfan Before Marfan? Iconodiagnostic Analysis of a Possible Marfan Spectrum Phenotype in an Etruscan Sculpture.

Marfan syndrome is a heritable connective tissue disorder characterized by multisystem involvement, particularly affecting the skeleton. We performed an iconodiagnostic evaluation of the Etruscan bronze statue "L'Ombra della Sera" to assess whether its morphological features may reflect a real connective tissue phenotype rather than symbolic elongation. Systemic features were evaluated according to the revised Ghent nosology. The statue exhibits disproportionate longitudinal growth, thoracic deformities, craniofacial characteristics, and pedal findings consistent with a systemic connective tis

Single Cell Analysis of the Tumor Microenvironment Landscape Across the Disease Spectrum of Multiple Myeloma.

Multiple myeloma progresses from precursor states to active disease, and studying tumor microenvironment (TME) evolution across these stages is key to understanding immune dysregulation and therapeutic resistance. Here, we integrated paired single-cell RNA, T-, and B-cell receptor sequencing data from bone marrow samples of 235 patients spanning the disease spectrum. This dataset revealed dynamic changes in the abundance and functional states of diverse immune populations, including T-, natural killer, B-, and myeloid cells. Using non-negative factorization of cell-subset composition, we ident

A systematic review and meta-analysis on glymphatic flow dysfunction in Parkinson's disease and Parkinsonism spectrum.

This systematic review and meta-analysis synthesized evidence of glymphatic dysfunction in Parkinson's disease (PD) and related Parkinsonian syndromes using the diffusion tensor imaging along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) index. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 28 studies published up to May 12, 2025, were included. The primary meta-analysis of 21 studies (1678 patients with PD and 1088 HCs) demonstrated a significant reduction in the DTI-ALPS index in patients with PD (Cohen's d = -0.57; 95% CI: -0.67 to -0.47; p < 0.001), indicating moderate glymphatic dysfunction. This impairment w

Study on the Screening of Anti-Osteoporosis Components in Processed Epimedium-Based on Spectrum-Effect Analysis.

Epimedium (EP) is a traditional Chinese medicine that has been used to treat osteoporosis for several years, but its mechanism of action is unclear. We used ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPLC-QQQ-MS/MS) to detect the components of raw and processed EP samples. The antioxidant activities of the various tested compounds were evaluated using 1,1-diphenyl-2-trinitrophenylhydrazine (DPPH), and their antiosteoporosis effects were assessed in H2O2-stimulated MC3T3 cells and zebrafish embryos. The correlation between the chemical ingredie

Contributions of Artificial Intelligence to Analysis of Gut Microbiota in Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a highly heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder whose etiology is not known today, but everything indicates that it is multifactorial. For example, genetic and epigenetic factors seem to be involved in the etiology of ASD. In recent years, there has been an increase in studies on the implications of gut microbiota (GM) on the behavior of children with ASD given that dysbiosis in GM may trigger the onset, development and progression of ASD through the microbiota-gut-brain axis. At the same time, significant progress has occurred in the developmen
