PURPOSE: Frozen gloves (FG) are effective in preventing docetaxel-induced nail toxicity (DNT), but uncomfortable. The preventive effect of FG for DNT was compared using a standard (-25 to -30°C) or more comfortable (-10 to -20°C) preparation.

The purpose of this study was to assess the toxicity and efficacy of gemcitabine and docetaxel administered every other week as first-line therapy in metastatic breast cancer. Fifty-one patients with histologically confirmed metastatic breast cancer were enrolled. We treated a 67-year-old female with hypopharyngeal cancer (T2N0) in the posterior wall, who had a complete response after two cycles of chemotherapy with docetaxel followed by radiation. Five years after this therapy she has had no recurrence and no metastasis, with preserved laryngeal framework and function. Docetaxel is useful for treating early head and neck cancer.

Doxetaxel (DCT) and mitoxantrone (MX) are highly active and potentially synergistic agents in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer (MBC).
