OBJECTIVES: Trigger finger is frequently treated with tendon sheath injections. This cadaveric study evaluated the accuracy and safety of blind and sonographically guided tendon sheath injections. To our knowledge, a study that precisely mapped the locations of material injected into the tendon sheath has not been reported previously.
METHODS: A total of 40 fingers (excluding thumbs) of 5 fresh cadavers were used. Methylene blue dye was injected into the flexor tendon sheath using either a blind or sonographically guided injection technique (20 fingers for each technique). The location of the

Trigger fingers, especially trigger at the A2 pulley, are extremely rare. We experienced two cases of the trigger finger at the A2 pulley and treated them surgically. A flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) nodule was located at the distal entry zone of the A2 pulley in case 1; therefore, the digit could not be flexed. The FDP nodule was located at the proximal entry zone of the A2 pulley in case 2, so the digit could not been extended. The surgical treatment was successful in removing the triggering in both the cases.

Trigger finger is an entity seen commonly by hand surgeons. It is produced by a size mismatch between the flexor tendon and the A1 pulley, which causes pain, clicking, catching, and loss of motion of the affected finger. The diagnosis is usually easy but other pathological processes (extensor apparatus instability, locked metacarpo-phalangeal joint) must be excluded. Treatment modalities in trigger finger include splinting, corticosteroid injection and/or surgery. Indication depends on the clinical form of trigger finger.

Patients with Hurler's syndrome (MPS-1H), I-cell disease (ML-II) and pseudo-Hurler's syndrome (ML-III) had median nerve compression and triggering of the fingers which limited finger extension. To our knowledge, this combination has not been reported previously in patients with mucopolysaccharidoses and related disorders. In all of our 3 cases the median nerve was compressed by thickened flexor tenosynovium. Synovectomy and resection of the volar carpal ligament improved the hand function in all, including the mentally retarded patient with Hurler's syndrome. Release of the fibroosseous tunnel

INTRODUCTION: The relative safety and effectiveness of percutaneous versus open A1 pulley release for trigger finger remain unclear. This systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis (MA) of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) compares these two techniques and evaluates the potential benefits of ultrasound guidance in percutaneous release.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Following PRISMA guidelines, this SR and MA was conducted of RCTs published up to August 11, 2025. PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched to identify studies comparing percutaneous release with open surgery for trigger finger.

BACKGROUND: The trigger digit is a mechanical condition in which the finger snaps, triggers, or locks due to a thickened retinacular sheath at the A1 pulley.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of different treatment options for the trigger finger and thumb.
METHODS: We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with treatments for trigger digits from their inception to July 29, 2025. This protocol was registered with PROSPERO. We conducted a network meta-analysis to compare outcomes across treatments. Treatment success was pooled as an odds ra

This report presents a rare case of flexor digitorum superficialis tendon rupture following intratendinous steroid injection, which caused a fixed proximal interphalangeal joint flexion deformity in a 45-year-old man. Surgical correction required complete release of the flexor digitorum superficialis insertion.

Artificial intelligence, specifically large language models like ChatGPT, is rapidly transforming the healthcare landscape. As ChatGPT becomes more popular for obtaining medical information, there are concerns regarding the accuracy and quality of its content. While prior studies in various medical specialties have yielded mixed results regarding ChatGPT's reliability, little research has focused on its ability to address questions regarding specific orthopedic procedures, such as surgical intervention for stenosing tenosynovitis (trigger finger). This study assessed the accuracy, clarity, and

BACKGROUND: Corticosteroid injection (CI) is one of the first-line treatments for trigger finger (TF) before escalation to surgical procedures such as percutaneous A1 pulley (PAP) release. This systematic review compares outcomes of concurrent PAP and CI for trigger finger release (TFR).
METHODS: A systematic search following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines was conducted in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library. Study variables included the number of patients, mean age, mean follow-up, affected finger, Quinnell grading, return to activ

BACKGROUND: Trigger finger is a common condition marked by painful catching or locking of a digit during motion. Although corticosteroid injections (CSIs) are widely used, there is limited consensus on the optimal corticosteroid type, dose, injection technique, or use of adjunctive therapies. This systematic review examined the effectiveness and safety of methylprednisolone and triamcinolone in achieving symptom remission.
METHODS: A systematic search was conducted across PubMed, Embase, and MEDLINE from inception to May 2024. Inclusion criteria focused on randomized controlled trials (RCTs)

Lateral epicondylitis, de Quervain tenosynovitis, and trigger finger are among the most common tendinopathies of the upper extremity. Lateral epicondylitis is a common condition that can be very frustrating to patients. Many patients will improve without any acute interventions. Physical therapy has been shown to be helpful as initial treatment, and surgery can be helpful for persistent symptoms. de Quervain tenosynovitis similarly responds well to nonsurgical modalities, including brace treatment and injections, and surgery can be effective for recalcitrant cases. Finally, trigger finger is a

The aim of this prospective study of 55 patients was to analyse the cross-sectional and longitudinal relationship between disability and physical and psychological variables after conservative treatment of trigger finger and to determine the predictive factors for the post-treatment disability score and change in disability score. The primary outcome measure was the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand questionnaire. Potential predictive factors included pain, number of triggering events, depression, anxiety and kinesiophobia. Disability correlated strongly with anxiety, moderately with

BACKGROUND: There are few reports of trigger wrist in the literature, as it is a rare pathology. Furthermore, various authors report that it is also hard to diagnose. It manifests with neurological symptoms at the affected wrist, which are usually induced by wrist movement, and can lead to partial or full loss of wrist function and sensitivity. The reason for reporting this specific case is that it was hard to differentiate between trigger finger and trigger wrist by clinical symptoms; no pathology was palpable or clearly seen on magnetic resonance imaging scan of the wrist. We propose a new d

Trigger thumb is an uncommon anomaly in children with controversial management ranging from simple observation to surgical release. This study aimed to determine the clinical outcomes of surgical release versus conservative treatment. Data from 407 children with 511 trigger thumbs were collected from their medical records. To compare the final outcomes of conservative and operative treatments, age at onset, sex, affected side, familial history, treatment modality, time to conversion from conservative to surgical treatment, recurrence, and complications were analyzed. Forty-one children were ex

INTRODUCTION: Trigger finger is one of the complications affecting the upper extremity in patients with diabetes. Diabetes is also a well-known risk factor that predisposes individuals to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). This retrospective cohort study aimed to establish the association between trigger finger and the patients with incident CVD with type 2 diabetes.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Trigger finger was diagnosed by palpating a thickened tendon during flexion or on the manifestation of a locking phenomenon during extension or flexion of either finger. The relationship between trigger finger an

BACKGROUND: Trigger finger is a common hand complaint of the general population. Limited literature exists implicating a low-estrogen state in patients on aromatase inhibitor (AI) therapy for breast cancer who develop trigger finger. The authors' objective was to determine the incidence and treatment outcomes of this population.
METHODS: A single-center retrospective chart review was conducted on patients with a diagnosis of breast cancer on AI who developed trigger finger from 2010 to 2019. The total population of patients during this time served as our population, and patients with breast c
