Feasibility of High-Intensity Interval Exercise in Young Adult Survivors of Pediatric Brain Tumor and Young Adults With Isocitrate Dehydrogenase-Mutant Gliomas (HYPE): Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial.

BACKGROUND: Young adult survivors of pediatric brain tumors and young adult patients with isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutant gliomas are at risk for cognitive impairment, reduced physical fitness and function, as well as poor health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and psychosocial health. Exercise improves these outcomes; however, both populations remain understudied with respect to exercise interventions. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a promising intervention, as it is time-efficient, safe, tolerable, enhances cognition in healthy young adults, and improves physical fitness an

A moderate intensity exercise program improves physical function and oxidative damage in older women with and without sarcopenic obesity.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The excess of body fat and muscle mass loss in adulthood results in sarcopenic obesity, which is associated with disability and poor physical condition. A relationship among obesity, sarcopenia and oxidative stress also has been established. These aspects limit a good muscle function which is crucial in the independence of older women with and without sarcopenic obesity. This study had as objective to design a moderate intensity exercise program for older women with sarcopenic obesity, and to examine its effects on oxidative damage and physical function. We hypothesi

Ventilatory response to helium-oxygen breathing during exercise: effect of airway anesthesia.

The substitution of a normoxic helium mixture (HeO2) for room air (Air) during exercise results in a sustained hyperventilation, which is present even in the first breath. We hypothesized that this response is dependent on intact airway afferents; if so, airway anesthesia (Anesthesia) should affect this response. Anesthesia was administered to the upper airways by topical application and to lower central airways by aerosol inhalation and was confirmed to be effective for over 15 min. Subjects performed constant work-rate exercise (CWE) at 69 +/- 2 (SE) % maximal work rate on a cycle ergometer

Thermal Responses to Exercise in Male Master Track & Field Athletes: Monitoring during Competition.

Due to involutional changes, the ability to perform physical exercise may undergo dynamic alterations. Therefore, analysis of physiological variables characterizing the response to competitive effort in Master athletes can provide additional information about the condition of the athlete and any potential dysfunctions. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of physical effort (warm-up and competition) on changes in skin surface temperature (Tsk) of the lower limbs in athletes across different age categories. Considering the abrupt changes in the functioning of various systems, athletes

Combined Effects of Chrysin Supplementation and Exercise Training on Diabetes-Induced Oxidative Stress and Apoptosis in Rat Testicular Tissue.

BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus (DM), one of the most pervasive and enduring metabolic diseases, has been demonstrated to adversely impact male fertility. Conversely, both exercise training and Chrysin have been identified as potential interventions capable of mitigating the deleterious effects of diabetes on spermatogenesis. Thus, the current study aims to explore the individual and combined influences of Chrysin supplementation and running exercise on oxidative stress and germ cell apoptosis in the testicular tissue of diabetic adult rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this experimental study, th

Beneficial effects of a negative ion patch on eccentric exercise-induced muscle damage, inflammation, and exercise performance in badminton athletes.

Complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) are widely applied and accepted for therapeutic purposes because of their numerous benefits. Negative ion treatment belongs to one of the critical categories defined by the National Center for CAM, with such treatment capable of air purification and ameliorating emotional disorders (e.g., depression and seasonal affective disorder). Negative ions can be produced naturally and also by a material with activated energy. Exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD) often occurs due to inadequate warm up, high-intensity exercise, overload, and inappropriate p
