ICR mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni developed sizable concomitant immunity to a challenge infection 10 weeks, but not 7 weeks, following the primary infection. In these investigations two types of antigen preparations were used: (i) Whole Antigen (WAg), and (ii) Soluble Antigen (SAg). For immunization, Muramyl Dipeptide (MDP) was employed as an adjuvant. 30 patients with chronic tonsillitis (CT) and 20 patients with chronic sinusitis (CS) received likopid (4 mg/day for 10 days). Vaccination of primates against malaria using antigen derived from erythrocytic parasite stages has been most successful where Freund's complete adjuvant has been employed.
