The rapid evolution of herbicide-resistant weeds has driven urgent demand for eco-friendly bioherbicides, yet most microbial agents suffer narrow application ranges and unstable field efficacy. In this study, an Albifimbria verrucaria strain DY01 was isolated from naturally diseased leaves of Oplismenus undulatifolius. At 4 × 107 CFU mL-1, DY01 spore suspension caused severe chlorosis and seedling mortality across six out of seven tested weeds within 5 days, while only Cyperus iria sustained minimal injury. The mortality rates of Echinochloa crus-galli, Microstegium vimineum, and the invasive

The emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance, as well as the evolution of new strains of disease causing agents, are of great concern to the global health community. Effective treatment of a disease entails the development of new pharmaceuticals or some potential source of novel drugs. Commonly used medicinal plants of our community could be an excellent source of drugs to fight off this problem. This study is focused on exploring the antimicrobial properties of the plants that are commonly being used as traditional medicines. The antimicrobial potential of four different plant extracts w

The invasive plant Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng. (or Ageratina adenophora (Spreng.) King and Robinson) (Compositae) has caused great economic loss in China, especially the southwestern region, and is gravely threatening the native biodiversity. The aerial part of this plant was phytochemically investigated for its allelochemicals. Eleven terpenes (2 monoterpenes and 9 sesquiterpenes) were isolated and identified, which include a new monoterpene, (-)-(1R*,2S,*4R*,5S*)-3,3-dimethyl-5-hydroxybicyclo[2,2,1]hept-2-ylmethanol (1), two new cadinane sesquiterpenes, (-)-(5S*,6S*,7S*,9R*,10S*)-7-hydrox

This study unveiled the cadmium phytoremediation potential and its augmentation using 6-Benzylaminopurine in Strobilanthes alternata. Cadmium stress was provided by applying 250 mg/kg cadmium chloride in soil and 25 ppm of 6-BAP (25 ml) was administered to the plants as foliar spray. The results revealed high bioconcentration factor (BCF) (18.82 ± 0.54) and low translocation factor (TF) values (0.055 ± 0.002) for the plant based on which we strongly recommend S. alternata as a promising candidate for Cd phytoremediation. The phytostabilization potential of the plant was further enhanced by app

The pollution and harm of Sb3+ to aquatic systems is a global problem, so Sb3+ removal from the water environment to make sure environment safety and human beings wellbeing is of urgency. This study explored the effect of chitosan combined with nicotinamide-modified eupatorium adenophorum biochar (CEBC) on adsorbing Sb3+ through batch adsorption experiments. The experiments indicated CEBC's maximum adsorption capacity to Sb3+ is 170.15 mg·g-1. Meanwhile, the capacity of the original biochar (EBC) is only 9.97 mg·g-1. Compared with EBC, CEBC contains more functional groups, such as CO, -OH and

BACKGROUND: Animal acariasis is one of the important veterinary skin diseases. Chemical drugs have been widely used to treat and control this kind of disease. But many chemicals control could increase resistance in target species, toxicity and environmental hazards. We found that the 9-oxo-10, 11-dehydroageraphorone (euptox A) extracted from E. adenophorum has strong toxicity against P. cuniculi in vitro, but the in vivo acaricidal actions of euptox A have yet to be investigated.
RESULTS: A 14-day experiment was performed using rabbits that were naturally infested with P. cuniculi on a farm.
