Ultrasensitive Specific Detection of Anti-influenza A H1N1 Hemagglutinin Monoclonal Antibody Using Silicon Nanowire Field Effect Biosensors.

Rapid and sensitive detection of virus-related antigens and antibodies is crucial for controlling sudden seasonal epidemics and monitoring neutralizing antibody levels after vaccination. However, conventional detection methods still face challenges related to compatibility with rapid, highly sensitive, and compact detection apparatus. In this work, we developed a Si nanowire (SiNW)-based field-effect biosensor by precisely controlling the process conditions to achieve the required electrical properties via complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS)-compatible nanofabrication processes. Interfacial antagonism between goethite and ZnO nanoparticles modulates organic phosphorus fate in aquatic systems.

Iron (hydr)oxides and phosphorus interactions critically influence aquatic biogeochemical cycles, yet the role of engineered nanoparticles in modulating these processes remains underexplored. This study systematically investigates how zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and goethite (Gt) synergistically regulate the transformation of five representative organic phosphorus (OP) compounds-inositol hexaphosphate, nucleic acids, 2-aminoethylphosphonic acid, adenosine triphosphate, and creatine phosphate. Gt alone exhibited limited OP degradation (14.7 %-39.2 % over 80 h). In contrast, co-treatment

Sexual dimorphism in the gonad lipidome of blue mussels (Mytilus sp.): New insights from a global lipidomics approach.

Blue mussels (Mytilus sp.) are an economically important species for European aquaculture. Their importance as a food source is expected to increase in the coming net-zero society due to their low environmental footprint; however, their production is affected by anthropogenic stressors and climate change. During reproduction, lipids are key molecules for mussels as they are the main source of energy on which newly hatched embryos depend in the first days of their development. In this work, blue mussels of different origins are analysed, focusing on the differences in lipid composition between

A Salmonella Regulator Modulates Intestinal Colonization and Use of Phosphonoacetic Acid.

Many microorganisms produce phosphonates, molecules characterized by stable carbon-phosphorus bonds that store phosphorus or act as antimicrobials. The role of phosphonates in the marine biosphere is well characterized but the role of these molecules in the intestine is poorly understood. Salmonella enterica uses its virulence factors to influence the host immune response to compete with the host and normal microflora for nutrients. Salmonella cannot produce phosphonates but encodes the enzymes to use them suggesting that it is exposed to phosphonates during its life cycle. The role of phospho

Cr[(H3N-(CH2)2-PO3)(Cl)(H2O)]: X-ray single-crystal structure and magnetism of a polar organic-inorganic hybrid chromium(II) organophosphonate.

Cr[(H(3)N-(CH(2))(2)-PO(3))(Cl)(H(2)O)], a rare example of a polar organic-inorganic hybrid material containing Cr(2+), was prepared from CrCl(2), 2-aminoethylphosphonic acid, and urea in water and isolated as light-blue crystals. It crystallizes in the noncentrosymmetric monoclinic space group P2(1), with a = 5.249(1) A, b = 14.133(3) A, c = 5.275(1) A, and beta = 105.55(2) degrees. The inorganic layer of the hybrid network is formed by Cr(II) five-coordinated by three oxygen atoms from the phosphonates and one from the water molecule in a square pyramidal unit, whose apical position is occup

The Rationale for Using Neridronate in Musculoskeletal Disorders: From Metabolic Bone Diseases to Musculoskeletal Pain.

Neridronate or ((6-amino-1-hydroxy-1-phosphonohexyl) phosphonic acid) is an amino-bisphosphonate (BP) synthetized in Italy in 1986. Bisphosphonates are molecules with a P-C-P bond in their structure that allows strong and selectively binding to hydroxyapatite (HAP) as well as osteoclasts inhibition through different mechanisms of action. Neridronate was initially used to treat Paget disease of the bone, demonstrating effectiveness in reducing bone turnover markers as well as pain. The interesting molecular properties of neridronate foster its wide use in several other conditions, such as osteo
