Breast cancer recurrence after autologous flap reconstruction is rare and typically occurs at the contact zone between the flap and the native tissue. When a new lesion is found in a reconstructed breast without the characteristic appearance of benign entities such as fat necrosis, definitive tissue diagnosis is often warranted to rule out recurrence or metastasis. Angiolipomas are rare, benign lipomatous tumors that have nonspecific imaging appearances and are thus frequently biopsied or excised for definitive diagnosis. Here, we report a case of a new breast mass found at the contact zone of

Intracranial tumours composed of adipose tissue and abnormal blood vessels are rarely recognized. We report two such cases; one showed the radiological and histological appearances of a combined lipoma and an arteriovenous malformation, the other the appearances of a lipoma with a prominent capillary component. Computed tomography did not give any indication of their vascular nature, but surgery was complicated by intra- and postoperative haemorrhage.

Three cases of spinal epidural angiolipoma, all affecting middle-aged women, are reported. Spinal epidural angiolipomas are considered a separate entity from the more common lipomas involving the same space. Although these tumors are considered very rare, the occurrence of three cases in less than 2 years in the same geographical area raises the question of their frequency. The computed tomographic scan has been misleading in two of our patients, whereas magnetic resonance imaging was highly suggestive. Two of these tumors were apparently exceptional, being lumbar and anterior. The patients we

In a 35-year old woman presenting familial multiple lipomatosis, spastic paraparesis developed and became worse under tetracosactide therapy. Signs of spinal cord compression at T3 were present. CT and MRI revealed a fat-containing epidural tumour (angiolipoma). The association of angiolipoma with familial multiple lipomatosis has not yet been reported. This association supports the theory that angiolipomas are hamartomatous lesions. The deterioration observed under tetracosactide suggests that iatrogenic epidural lipomatosis is due to the development of a pre-existing lipoma.

Spinal epidural angiolipoma is a rare tumor revealed by a slowly progressive paraplegia. We reported a case of a 44-year-old female and point out the peculiar pattern of this lesion characterized by the prominence of the vascular component over the lipomatous component. Recognition of this entity is important because this is a benign and curable cause of paraplegia.

Angiolipoma is a rare tumor of the spine commonly presenting with compressive myelopathy. We report a spinal angiolipoma in a 14-year-old patient with acute spinal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). To our knowledge this is the first reported case of a spinal angiolipoma presenting with SAH, associated with post-subclavian coarctation with diffuse hypoplasia of the descending aorta. This association of coarctation of aorta, aortic hypoplasia and spinal angiolipoma has also not been reported previously.

Angiolipomas in the lumbar spine are rare, with only a few reported cases presenting in a dumbbell shape. We report a case of a dumbbell-shaped lumbar angiolipoma extending not only into the spinal canal and the intervertebral foramen but also extensively into the iliopsoas muscle. A male patient in his early 60s, presenting with an 8-month history of low back pain and bilateral lower extremity pain, was referred to our department for treatment. MRI revealed a large dumbbell-shaped tumour located around the L2/3 spinal canal and extending into the left iliopsoas muscle. Angiolipoma was suspect

Angiolipoma is a rare, benign variant of lipoma; its distinctive feature is its prominent vascularity. It presents as a subcutaneous nodule of white adipose tissue; pain, which may be exacerbated by pressure, is the chief symptom. The anatomic distribution predominantly involves the trunk and extremities. Because of the rarity of this condition in otorhinolaryngology, our understanding of its diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up is limited. Microscopically, two different histopathologic forms of angiolipomas exist: circumscribed and infiltrating. The diagnosis of angiolipoma can be aided by ult

OBJECTIVE: We describe an intraosseous angiolipoma of the cranium and discuss the outcome. Angiolipomas are benign tumors that consist of mature adipose tissue and abnormal vessels. They occur predominantly in the subcutaneous tissue of the trunk and upper limbs. Only 4 examples of intraosseous angiolipomas have been reported in the literature, all of which involved the mandible and ribs.
CLINICAL PRESENTATION: A 39-year-old man presented with a right parietal swelling. The patient initially refused surgery; thus it was possible to follow this case for 11 years, allowing us to evaluate the na

Mesenchymal tumors of the salivary glands are rare and mostly localized to the parotid gland. We report on the clinico-pathological features of a distinct parotid tumor occurred in a newborn, showing glandular structures admixed with mature lipocytes and blood vessels in variable proportions. This was a well-circumscribed and slowly growing nodule of the superficial parotid lobe, mostly reddish in color with white-yellowish striations. Microscopically, a distinct lobular architecture was evident, along with normal-appearing acinar and ductal structures with interposed loose fibrous stroma. The

The patient was an 82-year-old man. A posterior mediastinal tumor was noted on chest computed tomography (CT). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan showed a high signal on both T1- and T2-weighted imaging. Lipoma was suspected, but since the border with the vertebral body was partially unclear, video-assisted tumor resection was performed for diagnosis and treatment purposes. Finally, we diagnosed it as non-infiltrating angiolipoma. Angiolipoma is a benign tumor that accounts for 5-17% of all lipomas. Pathologically, they can be divided into two types:infiltrating and non-infiltrating. Most a

BACKGROUND: Angiolipoma is a rare histological variant of lipoma. Angiolipoma commonly occurs in the subcutaneous tissues of the extremity and trunk. There are few reports of angiolipoma occurring in the chest wall.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 78-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for evaluation of angina pectoris. Coronary computed tomography (CT) showed a soft tissue nodule in the left chest wall by chance. Enhanced chest CT showed a heterogeneous enhanced nodule in the left chest wall. On magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the lesion showed low signal intensity on T1-weighted images, hete

BACKGROUND: Angiolipoma is a benign tumor and is generally found in subcutaneous tissues. Angiolipomas are rare in the gastrointestinal tract, including the stomach. Preoperative diagnosis of the tumor is difficult, although there are several radiological examinations such as computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasound.
CASE SUMMARY: We report a 24-year-old Chinese man with multiple gastric angiolipomas, with a positive stool occult blood examination. Endoscopic biopsy only showed nonspecific inflammation. Histological examination of the specimen by endoscopic snare resection showed that th

Angiolipomas are rare benign tumours of the subcutaneous fat; they are sometimes solitary but their occurrence is more frequently multiple. Angiolipomas can be differentiated from lipomas clinically by their pronounced tenderness and histologically by their variable vascularization. The disease occurs mostly in young adults, the sites of predilection being the trunk and proximal extremities. Multiple angiolipomas have to be differentiated from other lipomatoses, especially from adiposis dolorosa (Dercum's disease). The case reported in this paper was characterized by typical clinical and histo

PURPOSE: Spinal angiolipomas (SALs) are rare benign tumors composed of mature adipose tissue mixed with abnormal vascular structures. Because of their rarity, their natural history, recurrence patterns, and optimal treatment strategies remain incompletely characterized. We performed a systematic review of the literature on spinal angiolipomas and presented an illustrative case of recurrent long-segment cervicothoracic SAL with mediastinal extension.
METHODS: A systematic literature review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (

A quadragenarian male presented with gradual protrusion of the left eyeball for 7-8 months' duration. On examination, the best corrected visual acuity in the right eye was 20/20, while in the left eye there was no light perception. Contrast-enhanced CT scan revealed a well-defined fat-density mass in the extraconal compartment of the left superior orbit, causing inferolateral globe dystopia with resultant stretching of the optic nerve. Provisionally, orbital dermoid or lipoma was considered in the differential diagnosis. Anterior orbitotomy with complete excision of the mass was performed unde

Angiolipoma are benign tumors composed of mature adipocytes ad mixed with abnormal vascular elements. It reportedly accounts for 0.1-0.5% of all spinal axis tumors in adults and is extremely rare in children. This article describes a case of spinal extradural angiolipoma in a 35-year-old man, who presented with paraplegia and sphincter disorders, the MRI showed extradural spinal lesions at the level of T7 to T10, that squeezed the spinal cord. We attained total resection without any further neurological complication. The diagnosis of SEALs initially can be challenging radiologically since they

BACKGROUND: Angiolipoma has been reported in many cases, and it often occurs in the skin of the trunk and limbs. However, angiolipoma in the scrotum is a rare disease with unknown etiology. This condition is difficult to diagnosis with other lumps in the scrotum.
CASE SUMMARY: A 32-year-old man presented to the urinary department with a history of an enlarged left scrotum with increasing discomfort for about 5 years. Physical examination revealed that there were a palpable mass measuring about 7.0 cm × 6.5 cm in the left scrotum, with smooth surfaces but without tenderness or adhesion to the

BACKGROUND: Spinal angiolipomas (SAs) are rare, benign tumors, representing 0.0004 to 1.2% of angiolipomas, usually located at the extradural and posterior thoracic level, with multimetameric extension.
METHODS: A systematic literature review was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. The authors searched on PubMed and Scopus databases for published articles with the Mesh term "spinal angiolipoma" and pertinent associations. Language restriction to English papers was applied. The authors also reported three emblematic
