This study investigated the profiling of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon- (PAH-) induced genotoxicity in cell lines and zebrafish. Each type of cells displayed different proportionality of apoptosis. Analytical epidemiology techniques were used to study the malignant neoplasms prevalence in the population of Magnitogorsk (400,000), and among the workers engaged in the Magnitogorsk metallurgical plant (64,000 workers). Accumulation of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) by sexually mature flatfish gonad, its transfer to developing gametes, and its subsequent effects on developing embryos were studied.
