Studies on the molluscicidal actvity of Calendula micrantha officinalis (Compositae) on fascioliasis transmitting snails.

The molluscicidal activity of ethanolic extracts of Calendula m. officinalis (flowers and leaves) was used as plant molluscicides against Lymnaea cailliaudi. The results indicated that flowers extract possess a molluscicidal activity more than leaves extract and the LC50 was 35 and 52.17 ppm respectively. The mortality rate of exposed snails was increased by prolongation of the exposure time. The molluscicidal effect resulted in enhancing energy utilization and nutrient consumption since glucose, lipids, proteins and triglycerids were greatly reduced. The stomach and digestive gland of the tre

Evaluation of chemical enhancement on phytoremediation effect of Cd-contaminated soils with Calendula officinalis L.

The popular ornamental plant Calendula officinalis L was studied for its potential application in the phytoremediation of cadmium (Cd)-contaminated soils. Enhancements to the Cd accumulation by the application of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), ethylenediaminetriacetic acid (EDTA) and ethylenegluatarotriacetic acid (EGTA) to the soil were investigated. Under these chemically enhanced treatments, EDTA was observed to be toxic to the plants leading to retarded growth. However, the application of SDS and/or EGTA was shown to result in significantly increased plant biomass (p < 0.05). Most of the ch

Serenoa Repens-Lycopene-Selenium and Epilobium-Palmitoylethanolamide-Calendula after transperineal prostate biopsy: a tertiary single center experience.

INTRODUCTION: Transperineal prostate biopsy (TPBx) is the gold standard for the diagnosis of prostate cancer, although it may transiently worsen lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Preventive medical strategies for post-biopsy LUTS are lacking. Phytotherapeutic compounds have demonstrated benefits in LUTS management, but their effectiveness in mitigating urinary and sexual dysfunction following TPBx remains unexplored. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective analysis included 623 patients who underwent TPBx (November 2023-July 2025) at San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy. Following TPBx, p

Hydrogel-Wrapped Calendula officinalis L. extracellular vesicles - A novel approach to enhance fracture healing by Macrophage reprogramming.

Fracture healing is a complex process often complicated by nonunion and delayed healing, with macrophage polarization being a key regulator of inflammation and tissue repair. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has identified genes highly expressed in M1 macrophages at fracture sites, which are closely linked to macrophage polarization. Plant-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) have shown potential as anti-inflammatory agents but are limited by short duration of action and poor targeting. In this study, we used scRNA-seq to elucidate the mechanisms of M1 macrophage polarization during frac

Protective effect of Calendula officinalis Linn. flowers against 3-nitropropionic acid induced experimental Huntington's disease in rats.

Oxidative stress (OS) and nitric oxide mechanisms have been recently proposed in 3-nitropropionic acid (3-NP)-induced neurotoxicity. The compounds, having antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and estrogenic effects, have been suggested for neuroprotection in different experimental models. Calendula officinalis Linn. flower extract (COE) is known for its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, estrogenic and neuroprotective activities. Hence, the present study was designed to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of COE on 3-NP-induced neurotoxicity in rats by observing behavioral changes, OS and striat
