Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) is a rare form of malignancy which consists of two types of cell, including squamous cells and glandular-like cells. The current report presents the first known case of ASC in the conjunctiva and analyzes the histological findings. A 76-year-old female presented with right eyelid swelling in 2001. Adenosquamous carcinoma of the head and neck is a rare and aggressive tumor, with fewer than 100 cases reported in the world literature to date. We report a case of adenosquamous carcinoma of the oral pharynx arising as a second primary malignancy in a patient being treated for primary gastric MALT (mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma. We also review the literature to assess current treatment and long-term prognosis of this rare tumor.

A 73-year-old female was referred from a local clinic with abdominal pain. A diagnosis of gastric cancer(cT3, cN0, M0, cStage ⅡB)and acute cholecystitis was made. Distal gastrectomy, D2, and cholecystectomy were performed. Postoperative pathological examination led to a diagnosis of adenosquamous cell carcinoma(pT3, pN2, M0, pStage ⅢA). We report a case of adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon. A 70-year-old woman underwent a colonoscopic examination because of a positive fecal occult blood test. Adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon is rare. A paraneoplastic syndrome presenting as hypercalcemia may occasionally occur in association with these tumors. Survival for more advanced stages of disease is lower than for patients with adenocarcinoma at a corresponding stage. We report a patient who presented with a primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the rectosigmoid junction and we review the literature regarding the clinical presentation, management, and prognosis of this tumor.

A case of primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the urethra observed in a 52 year old man is described. The patient had a history of recurrent scrotal abscess for seven and one-half months following trauma to the region. The serum calcium level was found to be elevated when carcinoma was diagnosed. The calcium level returned to normal after resection of the lesion but rose again when local recurrence and metastasis developed. He died three and one-half months after the surgery.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) is a rare entity, with fewer than 100 cases having been reported in the upper aerodigestive tract. Thus, no large samples characterizing its clinical behavior are available in the literature. Investigation of ASC has been further limited by difficulty in establishing histopathologic diagnosis. Our objective was to use a national population-based resource to evaluate patient demographics, clinical behavior, incidence, and survival for laryngeal adenosquamous carcinoma (LASC).
