CASE DESCRIPTION: A 7-year-old 42-kg (92.4-lb) sexually intact nulliparous female Italian Mastiff was examined because of a history of vaginal prolapse during diestrus.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: A physical examination revealed vaginal fold prolapse. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed an enlarged uterus with hypoechogenic content, corpora lutea in the ovaries, and a cyst in the right ovary. Hematologic abnormalities included leukocytosis, neutrophilia, mild anemia, and low Hct. Progesterone and estradiol concentrations were 9.36 ng/mL and 30.42 pg/mL, respectively, in serum and 72.72 ng/mL and 792 pg

INTRODUCTION: Central papillary cystadenocarcinoma of the jaw is an extremely rare tumor with only three previously reported cases in the English literature. This tumor is a histologically low-grade cancer, affecting more commonly in the mandible than in the maxilla.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 65-year-old woman presented with a two months history of a rapidly growing, painless mass of the right ascending ramus of the mandible. The pathologic report from incisional biopsy was a papillary cystic tumor with a differential diagnosis of cystadenoma versus cystadenocarcinoma. Segmental mandibulectomy,

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma is an extremely rare malignant tumor of the salivary gland which is cytologically considered to be of low-grade malignancy, showing an indolent biological behavior. Histologically, the tumor is characterized by cysts and papillary endocystic projections. This tumor most commonly arises in the major salivary glands, mainly the parotid gland. We report here a case of papillary cystadenocarcinoma originating from the minor salivary gland, which showed marked growth over a short period of time. Histologically, the tumor was characterized by intense cellular and nuclear

A case report of a malignant tumor, presumably paramesonephric in origin, is presented. Although uncommon, malignancies of the cystic structures of the broad ligament have been reported. The embryologic derivations and histologic feature of these tumors--mesonephric, mesothelial and paramesonephric--have been describe extensively, but no primary lesion has been evaluated previously by scanning electron microscopy. A prior laparotomy and biopsy with a diagnosis of a malignant papillary growth, probably paramesonephric, stimulated the examination of fresh tissue by an ETEC Autoscan scanning elec

Biliary cystadenocarcinoma with oncocytic differentiation was first reported in 1992. This is a report of a second case. The patient (a 71-year-old man) was admitted to our hospital complaining of abdominal fullness. Multicystic lesions were identified in the left hepatic lobe radiologically. The patient died of peritoneal dissemination of carcinoma 20 months later. At autopsy, the tumor of the left hepatic lobe was found to be composed of adjoining multiple cystic lesions and a solid lesion with infiltration of the hepatic hilus and peritoneal dissemination. Histologically, the multicystic le

Primary carcinoma arising from a paratubal cyst in the mesosalpinx in uncommon. Serous tumors of low malignant potential outnumber invasive carcinomas, which are often of endometrioid type. Only five cases of serous papillary cystadenocarcinoma with capsular invasion have been documented. We report a case of invasive papillary cystadenocarcinoma arising in a large paratubal cyst of the mesosalpinx, in an infertile woman. Possible hormonal basis, its link to serous borderline and malignant tumors of the peritoneum, and value of pre/intra operative cyst fluid cytology are discussed. Lack of defi

Immunohistochemical and ultrastructural findings in a rare case of papillary cystadenocarcinoma arising from the left sublingual gland of a 55-year-old Japanese man are reported. Histologically, the tumor tissue was found to be composed of various-sized cystic cavities in which papillary epithelial projections with thin fibrovascular cores were observed. The papillary projections consisted of a single layer to several layers of high columnar epithelial cells. Invasion to the surrounding fibrous tissue and into the lymphatics was observed, thus suggesting an aggressive potential in the present

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the salivary glands. This tumor most commonly arises in the major salivary glands, mainly in the parotid gland, and rarely metastasizes to regional lymph nodes. We report here a case of papillary cystadenocarcinoma originating from a minor salivary gland, localized in the lateral portion of the tongue and with neck metastases, in a 57-year old woman. We discuss histopathologic and clinical features of this lesion and review the literature.

OBJECTIVE: To study the diagnosis and treatment of Müllerian duct cysts and their involvement with malignancy.
METHODS: A 44-year-old male patient with papillary cystadenocarcinoma involving a Müllerian duct cyst was presented. The presentation treatment, and pathological and radiological appearances were retrospectively analysed and discussed with literature review. The main manifestation was intermittent episode of hemospermia accompanying terminal hematuria and infertility for 15 years. Final diagnosis was determined by the findings of transrectal ultrasound scan, CT scan, MRI imaging, cys

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma of the salivary gland is a very rare malignant neoplasm accounting for only 2% of all salivary gland lesions. In 1991 it was first included as a separate entity in the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of salivary gland tumors and in 2017 WHO Classification, the tumor was clubbed as a sub-variant of adenocarcinoma, not otherwise specified. It most commonly occurs in the major salivary glands. Herein we report a case of salivary papillary cystadenocarcinoma in a 54-year-old female, who presented with rapid enlargement of the right parotid swelling. Base

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma is a very rare slow growing malignant neoplasm characterized by cysts and intraluminal papillary projections. It is defined by WHO as a separate entity. On FNA, cytological features can mimic with various papillary and cystic neoplasms of salivary gland. It is also difficult to distinguish from benign salivary gland neoplasms as it has bland nuclear features. Thus we present cytomorphological features and discuss its differential diagnosis with neoplasms having prominent papillary architecture with review of literature.

Papillary cystadenomas of the epididymis are known to occur in association with Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease. The development of a papillary cystadenocarcinoma, its malignant counterpart, is rare with only a few sporadic cases reported in the literature. Metastatic deposits are exceedingly uncommon; in fact, only a single case report has documented metastases to the paraureteral region, but metastases to the testis have never been reported. A 43-year-old gentleman with VHL disease presented with non-obstructive azoospermia, a right epididymal mass, and an atrophic surgically corrected undes

Papillary cystadenocarcinoma involving the salivary glands is rare, and there are only about 13 case reports and a single large series of 57 cases in the literature. We report 2 cases of this rare entity with emphasis on the diagnostic histomorphological features. The cases are also distinctive, in that they have an epithelial lining, which is oncocytic throughout. One of our cases was detected in an 8-year-old male child, which is itself a rarity.

OBJECTIVE: Ovarian cancers exhibit very heterogeneous genetic and genomic aberrations with various pathogenetic and prognostic values. Chromosome 22 abnormalities, including del(22q) and duplications, are genetic multisystemic disorders, most commonly affecting cardiovascular, immune, and gastrointestinal systems, while tumors are rarely reported.
METHODS: In this case report, we described a patient with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome who developed a papillary high-grade serous ovarian cystadenocarcinoma, and targeted- and whole-exome sequencing for genomic alterations identification and RNA-seque

Cystic epithelial tumors arising from the prostate are rare, and their full histologic spectrum has yet to be defined. Herein, we present 8 examples of prostatic cystic tumors including 1 giant multilocular cystadenoma and 7 cystadenocarcinomas. We divided the cystadenocarcinomas into "giant multilocular" cystadenocarcinoma (3) and "microscopic" cystadenocarcinoma (4) because of their differing clinical presentations with clinically apparent cystic masses in the former. The cystadenoma was an 11 cm multilocular cystic pelvic tumor in a 55-year-old man who presented with lower urinary tract sym

Neoplasms of the epididymis are uncommon, and malignant tumors are extremely rare. We report a case of clear cell papillary cystadenocarcinoma of the epididymis presenting with a long history of painless scrotal mass on the left side. Immunohistochemical markers for clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) were examined to distinguish between clear cell papillary cystadenocarcinoma of the epididymis and metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma. The present case was positive for cytokeratin-7, PAX2, vinculin, vimentin and carbonic anhydrase IX. Expression of CD10 was focally observed. In contras

Synchronously occurring primary gynecological malignancies are rare, and most commonly reported synchronous female genital malignancies are ovarian and endometrial. It is postulated that the extended Mullerian system, comprising the ovarian epithelium, fallopian tube, uterine corpus and cervix, may respond as a single morphological unit to a carcinogenic process, thus producing primary tumours at above-mentioned sites in varying combinations. We are reporting for the first time, an unusual occurrence of synchronous papillary serous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary and squamous cell carcinoma of

Ovarian cystadenocarcinoma is characterized by marked heterogeneity and may be composed of an admixture of histologic growth patterns, including acinar, papillary and solid. In the present study, a case of isolated small intestine metastasis of ovarian papillary cystadenocarcinoma was reported. A 7-year-old female mixed-breed dog presented with a mass in the left upper quadrant with progressive enlargement of the abdomen, periodic bloody discharge from the vulva and incontinence. The tumor was histologically characterized by the presence of cysts and proliferation of papillae, both lined by si
