We herein report a case of pancreatic serous cystadenoma in a patient who presented with jaundice, and we provide a review of the literature. A 53-year-old man was admitted with complaints of jaundice and weight loss. With a preoperative diagnosis of pancreatic serous cystadenoma with obstructive jaundice, he underwent pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy. The coexistence of a cystadenoma with an ectopic pregnancy in the same fallopian tube is extremely rare. A 30-year-old gravid woman exhibited increasing human chorionic gonadotropin concentrations. Intramuscular methotrexate therapy was administered and ectopic precautions were taken. The patient eventually underwent diagnostic laparoscopy. After pathologic review, an ectopic pregnancy and serous cystadenoma were identified in the left fallopian tube.

Serous cystadenomas of the pancreas are slow growing tumors, rarely compressive and therefore rarely symptomatic. Morphologically typical serous cystadenomas can be safely followed up. We present an extremely rare case of ovarian serous cystadenoma with mural nodules of rhabdomyoma. The patient, a 48-year-old woman, was admitted to our hospital with left lower abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. The microcystic serous cystadenoma of pancreas or glycogen "rich" cystadenoma is a rare entity. Only rare cases of extraovarian Brenner tumors have been described. This report concerns one case of extraovarian Brenner tumor detected in close association with an extraovarian benign serous cystadenoma. Coexistence of these two tumors supports the theory of a common origin either from celomic epithelium or remnants of the embryonic mesonephric system.

Operative laparoscopy is changing the methods of treatment of the acute abdomen in advanced pregnancy. Diagnostic capabilities in identification of benign disease are becoming more sensitive with the use of advanced imaging ultrasound scanning and magnetic resonance imaging. This has changed the deciding factors in the handling of advanced-size adnexal masses with minimally invasive techniques for the conservative management and treatment in advancing pregnancies. BACKGROUND: Müllerian cyst of the retroperitoneum is an extremely rare disease that is thought to be a subtype of urogenital cyst. It is a benign condition that can only be diagnosed and cured by surgical resection.
CASE: An 80-year-old female with a huge cystic swelling, thought to be ovarian in origin, underwent laparotomy. Surgical exploration and subsequent histopathological analysis of the cyst revealed a müllerian serous cystadenoma of the retroperitoneum, 22 kg in weight. Preoperative ultrasound scan and computed tomography failed to elucidate a correct preoperative etiology.

BACKGROUND: Macrocystic serous cystadenomas (MaSCA) are rare benign tumor of the pancreas which represent an atypical macroscopic morphologic variant of serous cystadenomas (SCA). Serous papillary cystadenoma of borderline malignancy arising in the broad ligament is extremely rare. We report the case of a 28-year-old female with a cystic mass in the broad ligament, who underwent complete excision of the mass, right salpingo-oophorectomy, omentectomy and multiple peritoneal biopsies. Pathology showed a serous papillary cystadenoma of borderline malignancy of the broad ligament, without peritoneal and omental involvement. A review of the literature about this rare pathologic condition is reported.

The clinical and pathological findings including light microscopic and ultrastructural features of two cases of borderline mucinous and serous cystadenomas that originated in the broad ligament are reported. The tumors did not involve the oviduct or ovary. They probably arose in pre-existing cysts of mesothelial and paramesonephric (primary Müllerian) origin. These rare tumors bear a close resemblance to the borderline epithelial tumors of the ovary and the same prognostic criteria may be applicable to the lesions presented here.
