AIM: The objective of this study was to compare the prevalence, severity and distribution of CDS in patients attending general dental clinics (GDC) and periodontal specialty clinics (PSC) and to correlate them to possible causal factors. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 2 groups of patients aged 20-60 years recruited from GDC (144) and PSC (151) were evaluated for CDS by means of a questionnaire and intraoral clinical examinations. Furthermore, gingival recession and plaque scores were recorded at the same visit. RESULTS: The results showed that patients referred to PSC had a significantly higher preva

Comprehensive management evaluation of anaphylactic shock in dental clinics across developing countries.

Anaphylaxis shock is defined as a sudden, severe allergic reaction that can be life-threatening and typically occurs within minutes to a few hours following exposure to a triggering substance. While anaphylaxis shock can be a rare side effect of dental treatments, including sedation and anesthesia, dentists must be prepared to respond promptly and appropriately to prevent complications such as airway obstruction and cardiac issues. In developing countries, managing anaphylactic shock presents challenges, often due to low awareness among dentists and a lack of necessary equipment. Immediate dia

Osteoporosis risk group: Screening for osteoporosis in dental clinics using panoramic radiographs.

Osteoporosis is a specific condition which is characterized by low bone mineral density (BMD) and deterioration of bone structure resulting in an increased susceptibility to fractures. It contributes to a great deal of morbidity and mortality, and is a large burden to the healthcare system, especially in the case of the elderly population. In the last four decades, a plethora of studies have reported characteristic oral radiographic findings in the early stages of osteoporosis, suggesting the possible use of oral radiographic signs for the early detection of the condition. Number of Pregnant Women at Four Dental Clinics and the Care They Received: A Dental Quality eMeasure Evaluation.

Process-of-care quality measure research can be used to identify gaps in the delivery of dental services to pregnant patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the types of dental services that pregnant patients received in four dental clinics over five years as documented in the electronic health record (EHR). To accomplish this objective, the authors modified and validated a previously published claims-based dental quality measure for EHR use. After the electronic dental quality measure specifications were defined, the number of pregnant patients was calculated at three academic dental

Paradigm shift in infection control practices in dental clinics in response to COVID-19 among dental professionals in Thailand.

Infection control (IC) practice routines depend mainly on knowledge, perception, and awareness of a disease among dental professionals. This study aims to investigate how dental professionals in Thailand perceive and are aware of COVID-19, and how they have changed their IC practices in response to the pandemic. Risk Factors Associated with Children's Behavior in Dental Clinics: A Cross-Sectional Study.

One of the most crucial tasks of pediatric dentists is to control children's negative behaviors. This study aimed to assess dental behavior and the associated risk factors among children aged 4-12. This cross-sectional study recruited healthy, unaffected children aged 4 to 12 years. Parents were interviewed regarding the sociodemographic details and characteristics of their children's dental visits. Two collaborative dentists examined the children for dental caries (DMFT/DMFT) and behavioral status (Frankl's behavior rating scale). This study included 439 children: 27.3% exhibited uncooperativ

Art therapy-oriented space design for pediatric dental clinics: a Kano-AHP-FCE framework.

This study takes the needs of pediatric dental patients as the starting point and integrates art therapy concepts into the space design of pediatric dental clinics, with the goal of enhancing both the treatment experience and clinical efficiency. By applying the Kano model and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), a comprehensive evaluation and design framework tailored to pediatric dental care requirements was established to assess art-therapy-oriented spatial experiences. Subsequently, practical design interventions were implemented and validated through Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation (FCE). The

Perceptions of virtual clinical learning in dentistry: Understanding student views on virtual dental clinics.

BACKGROUND: The Virtual Dental Clinics (VDCs) are designed in an interactive mode for undergraduate dental students to expose them to dental clinical cases in the form of didactic learning rather than experiential learning. VDCs simulate realistic dental practice scenarios within a virtual environment, providing students with opportunities to engage in clinical decision-making, patient interactions, and procedural simulations. AIM: This study aims to assess students' perceptions regarding the usefulness of Virtual Dental Clinics (VDCs) in simulated clinical training using a validated question
