[Evaluation of pH variation and cervical dentin permeability in teeth submitted to bleaching treatment].

External cervical root resorption is one of the disadvantages of the bleaching procedure. There are several mechanisms that may be responsible for causing resorption, such as the chemical and physical action of the utilized materials and the morphology of the cementoenamel junction. The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of a communication between the pulp chamber and the external root surface. The investigation was carried out by means of pH tests and measurement of dye infiltration into cervical dentin after the bleaching procedure. Thirty-four human permanent incisors wer

In vitro evaluation of dentin permeability of fluorotic primary teeth with a new electronic hydraulic conductance measurement system with photosensors.

OBJECTIVES: The permeability characteristics of dentin have been used in many in vitro studies to evaluate longitudinally the efficacy of various restorative and preventative procedures. The easiest way to evaluate dentin permeability is to calculate its hydraulic conductance (Lp) by fluid filtration method. There are researches on electronic hydraulic conductance measurement systems which can give more precise and reliable results of permeability of dentine than the classical system. To the authors' knowledge, there are no studies on bonding properties of restoratives to fluorotic primary tee

Clinical considerations of microleakage.

Most dental materials permit the microleakage of bacteria and bacterial products from oral fluids to reach dentin. Thus, an understanding of the clinical consequences of microleakage demands that we analyze the permeability characteristics of dentin. The more dentin surface that is exposed during tooth preparation, the greater the potential for microleakage. Thicker dentin is less permeable than thin dentin. Dentin over pulp horns is more permeable than central dentin. Similarly, the dentin making up axial walls is more permeable than dentin forming the pulpal floor of cavities. Coronal dentin

Effect and Stability of Poly(Amido Amine)-Induced Biomineralization on Dentinal Tubule Occlusion.

In recent years, scientists have developed various biomaterials to remineralize human teeth to treat dentine hypersensitivity. Poly(amido amine) (PAMAM) dendrimers have become a research focus in this field. It has been demonstrated that PAMAM is able to create precipitates both on the surface of and within the dentinal tubules, however, there is little information about its effect on reducing dentine permeability in vitro. This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro effectiveness and stability of the fourth generation amine-terminated PAMAM on dentinal tubule occlusion, especially on dentine pe

Patterns of fluoro-gold entry into rat molar enamel, dentin, and pulp.

Permeabilities of enamel and dentin are not fully understood despite their importance for caries, restorative materials, and pulp-dentin-enamel interactions. We have found that Fluoro-Gold is useful for examining tooth permeability, and we designed studies to test the effects of aging, injury, neural function, and dentinal repair on its influx into vital rat teeth. We used fluorescence microscopy and immunocytochemistry to show that Fluoro-Gold rapidly penetrates enamel, the dentin-enamel junction, and outer dentinal acellular tubules, and then concentrates in odontoblasts, where it remains fo
