The most well-known cause of phytophotodermatitis in Denmark is accidental contact with plants belonging to the Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), such as hodgweed (Heracleum spondylium). However, many other plants with furocoumarins (psoralens) may induce the same kind of reaction. We describe a case of phytophotodermatitis caused by Dictamnus alba, gas plant or burning bush also known from the Bible as the "burning bush of Moses".

Several members of the Rutaceae (citrus) family are widely cultivated and processed. Tocopherol (T) synthesis and composition are well-documented, while tocotrienols (T3) in most plant families remain underreported. To amend this, mass screening of Rutaceae species' seed tocochromanols were analysed. In order to investigate clonorchicidal activity in vivo, boiled water extracts of 32 species of clonorchicidal raw drugs in vitro were orally administered into rabbits infected with Clonorchis sinensis. The results of the observation of EPG variation were as follows: Suppression effects of egg-laying capacity from the rabbits administered Prunus mume and Inula helenium were greatest. Those from Dictamnus dasycarpus and Saussurea lappa were somewhat effective. Machilus thunbergii and Cassia obutusifolia, however, were less effective.

A retrospective study was performed in drug-induced liver injury(DILI) cases associated with Dictamni Cortex(Baixianpi,BXP) Preparations,which were treated at grade Ⅲ class A liver disease hospitals from 2008 to 2016 and spontaneously reported for adverse reactions between 2012 and 2016 at HILI Cloud(hilicloud.net). The results showed 25 DLII cases associated with BXP Preparations treated at grade Ⅲ class A liver disease hospitals during the 9 years,including only 14 cases in line with the clinical diagnostic criteria of Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Herb-Induced Liver Injury.
