Metastasis remains the leading cause of death among patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), emphasizing the urgent need for safer and more effective therapeutic options. Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways play a crucial role in regulating EMT, migration, and invasion in NSCLC. Targeting these molecular mechanisms has become a key strategy in inhibiting NSCLC metastasis. Loureirin A and Loureirin B, flavonoids derived from the Thai traditional herb Dracaena loureiri, have shown potential pharmacological effects; however, their roles in NSCLC metastasis remain unexplored.

Varicocele is a disease characterized by an abnormal dilation of the pampiniform plexus that drains the testis. The main objective of this work was to evaluate the curative effects of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Dracaena arborea on some reproductive and antioxidant markers in rats with experimental varicocele. Following varicocele induction, rats (5 per group) were randomly partitioned into untreated varicocele, vitamin E-treated (150 mg/kg), aqueous extract-treated (500 mg/kg), and ethanolic extract-treated (100 mg/kg) animals. Two other groups served as normal and sham-operated. After

Dragon's blood is a common but non-specific name for red-coloured resins that are produced by various plants, particularly exudations from plant species belonging to the genera Dracaena and Daemonorops. Although dragon's blood is mentioned in historic sources as a colourant, it has hardly ever been identified in real artworks. This paper reports the identification and discrimination of dragon's blood produced by Dracaena cinnabari, Dracaena draco as well as Daemonorops draco and Daemonorops micracantha by means of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) within the context of a routine ana

This paper reviewed the historical evolution of the varieties of Draconis Sanguis in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and discussed several doubts. Draconis Sanguis used in ancient Europe and Arabia was derived from Dracaena plants, and that originating from Southeast Asia entered the market in the 16 th century. Draconis Sanguis was introduced into China in the 5 th century at the latest and was once mixed with shellac for use. Draconis Sanguis in the Tang Dynasty and before was the resin of Dracaena plants. Scholars in the Song Dynasty have known that Draconis Sanguis came from the resin of

Species of Trichoderma are globally distributed across diverse ecosystems. In this study, four Trichoderma strains were isolated from Ophiocordyceps jinguangensis, two from O. sinensis, and two from Dracaena sp. To determine their taxonomic placement, maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference analyses of ITS, tef1-α, and rpb2 sequences, along with morphological examinations, were conducted. Integrating phylogenetic and morphological evidence, these strains were identified as three new species, Trichoderma diqingense, T. dracaenae, and T. yuxiense, which are distributed in three distinct clades

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Sanguis draxonis (SD) is a kind of red resin obtained from the wood of Dracaena cochinchinensis (Lour.) S. C. Chen (Dracaena cochinchinensis). It is a Chinese traditional herb that is prescribed for the handling of diabetic disorders, which is also supported by an array of scientific studies published in recent years. Although chemical constituents of this plant material have also been previously evaluated (Tang et al., 1995; Wei et al., 1998), it still remains poorly understood which constituent is the major contributor to its antidiabetic activities. Moreover,

Resina Draconis is a highly valued traditional medicine widely used in Arabia since ancient times, and it has been commonly used as an antidiarrheic, antimicrobial, antiulcer, blood circulation promoter as well as an anti-inflammatory agent. The tree source from which this medicine orignates grows extremely slowly, producing a very low yield of Resina Draconis. To meet the increasing market demand, artificial methods for stimulating Resina Draconis formation have been developed and applied. However, the chemical differences between artificially induced Resina Draconis (AIRD) and natural Resina

The plant rhizosphere harbors diverse microorganisms, including strains capable of volatile organic compound (VOC) uptake and air purification. This study isolated Lysinibacillus sp. LL4-1, a high-efficiency formaldehyde-degrading bacterium, from the root system of Epipremnum aureum (E. aureum) pre-treated with formaldehyde solution. The Gram-positive, rod-shaped, non-sporulating strain (1000 × 310 nm) demonstrated optimal degradation at pH 7.0, 35 °C, and 150 rpm agitation. Under these conditions, LL4-1 completely metabolized formaldehyde (50-1200 mg/L) in aqueous solutions, with biomass (OD6

Dragon's Blood (DB), a natural resin extracted from Dracaena cochinchinensis, exhibits anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, but its efficacy and underlying mechanisms in ischemic stroke remain to be fully elucidated. In this study, the neuroprotective effects of DB were evaluated using both transient and permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO and dMCAO) models in mice. DB treatment significantly reduced infarct volume, improved neurological outcomes, and alleviated neuronal apoptosis. Transcriptomic profiling revealed that DB modulated signaling pathways related to neur

Our screening of plants showed that Cyperus alternifolius (Umbrella papyrus) had the highest efficiency removal in real wastewater containing monoethanolamine-higher than Echinodorus cordifolius (Creeping Burrhead), Thalia geniculata (Alligator Flag), Acorus calamus (Sweet Flag), and Dracaena sanderiana (Lucky Bamboo). Therefore, this research studied the degradation of monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and triethanolamine (TEA) by C. alternifolius. Plants could degrade TEA into DEA, then into MEA, and then further into acetic acid. The accumulation of ethanolamines was found mainl

Dragon's Blood, from the Dracaena cochinchinensis plant, is known for enhancing blood circulation. Its main components are Dragon's Blood phenolic extracts (DBE). To pinpoint the active DBE constituents that are effective against thrombosis and understand their mechanism of action, the PT-stroke model was employed to assess DBE's antithrombotic effects on cerebral blood flow and platelet aggregation. This investigation demonstrates that DBE enhances cerebral blood flow and inhibits ADP-induced platelet aggregation in photothrombotic (PT) stroke models. An FeCl3-induced carotid artery thrombosi

Gastric cancer (GC) is a malignancy with high morbidity and mortality. Chinese dragon's blood is a traditional Chinese medicine derived from the red resin of Dracaena cochinchinensis (Lour.) S. C. Chen. However, the antigastric cancer effect of Chinese dragon's blood has not yet been reported. Herein, we demonstrated that Chinese dragon's blood ethyl acetate extract (CDBEE) suppressed the proliferative and metastatic potential of human gastric cancer MGC-803 and HGC-27 cells. CDBEE suppressed epithelial-mesenchymal transition in MGC-803 and HGC-27 cells. Moreover, CDBEE induced apoptotic and a
