Differences in the metabolic fate of antithyroid drugs influence the optimal frequency of administration and their therapeutic efficacy. (35)S propylthiouracil differed from the (35)S imidazoles (carbimazole and methimazole) in the more rapid absorption and excretion and the shorter biological half-life in the plasma of the former. Renal function may have a more important influence on the biological half-life of the drugs than thyroid status. Further work is required to determine the optimal frequency of administration for each compound.

OBJECTIVE: Assess the prevalence of off-label psychotropic medication use in paediatric and adolescent outpatients, and to identify the most frequently prescribed drugs for various psychiatric conditions.
METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed using data from the Norwegian Prescription Database (NorPD) and responses to an electronic survey distributed to child and adolescent psychiatrists across Norway. The NorPD data used in this study was collected from January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2019. The electronic survey was sent out in January 2021 and was active until March 2021.

Last years, the development of biological drugs substantially improved the outcome of many inflammatory diseases. In dermatology, this kind of therapy is essentially prescribed for the treatment of psoriasis, and include the anti-TNF, anti-IL-12/IL-23 and anti-IL-17. Despite these treatments have not yet been approved, they seemed to be efficient for the treatment of many other inflammatory dermatosis, like granulomatous diseases, neutrophilic diseases, hydradenitis suppurativa or pityriasis rubra pilaris.

We report the case of a 23-year-old woman with a pre-existing penicillin allergy label from childhood who presented with severe bilateral conjunctivitis and oral mucositis following a prodromal respiratory illness. Her symptoms worsened shortly after receiving doxycycline, raising concern for a drug reaction. Her condition progressed with significant ocular involvement requiring bilateral amniotic membrane grafting and subsequent immunosuppressive therapy. Cell-based assays are a novel method to determine potency of botulinum toxin drugs. Manufacturers are working on their acquisition, development and implementation to reduce animal consumption during the manufacturing process. Potency labelling of botulinum toxin drugs differes principally between Ipsen and the other manufacturers. Reference to a uniform international standard would avoid this potentially dangerous situation. However, this has not been demanded by the registration authorities and has not been persued by the manufacturers for decades.
