During the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, the use of technology to continue societal functions, maintain daily living, and gather information became near ubiquitous overnight. In the United States, universities moved to remote online education, non-essential personnel were asked to work from home, many businesses were forced to rapidly embrace online purchasing and even entertainers held concerts on social media platforms. Professional medical personnel, as well as state and local officials, held daily press briefings about the virus on television, radio, and social media. Disaster research has sh

Neonatal seizures are high-risk clinical events that require rapid recognition but present subtle symptoms. Although simulation-based education supports clinical competence, the use of escape-room-based approaches in neonatal nursing education remains underexplored. The aim of the study was to explore the experiences of nursing students regarding escape room-based simulation for managing neonatal seizure scenarios. This descriptive qualitative study involved 8 undergraduate nursing students engaged in a 5-stage escape-room simulation using a high-fidelity neonatal simulator (Super Tory S2220,

OBJECTIVE: To explore the use of real-life operative videos for teaching surgical procedures and evaluate how these compare to alternative teaching methods.
BACKGROUND: Surgical trainees face increasing challenges in training due to evolving working patterns and the growing complexity of surgical procedures. As a result, it is becoming increasingly difficult to develop operative competence. To address such challenges, new training tools must be developed to meet the demands of contemporary surgical practice.

PURPOSE: To identify and classify free mobile applications for adult cancer patient education available in the App Store and Google Play.
METHODS: A technology foresight study was conducted in four phases (preparation, pre-prospecting, prospecting, and post-prospecting). Search was carried out in both stores, using the terms "cancer" and "oncology". Free apps in English, Spanish, or Portuguese aimed at educating adults with cancer were included. Quality was assessed based on a scale adapted from the Applications Scoring System.
RESULTS: A total of 848 apps were identified. After screening, 3

PURPOSE: Assistive technology (AT) enables students with disabilities to access school curricula. Teacher knowledge about AT is a key predictor of use, but common barriers to AT adoption include insufficient preparation, training, and funding. During the COVID-19 pandemic, mandated remote learning led to expanded technological resources and access. Understanding in-service special education teachers' (SETs') current knowledge, training, utilisation, and support for AT in schools in the post-pandemic context is an essential step for improving practice, and the purpose of this paper.

PURPOSE: Despite the well-documented importance of braille for people who are blind or visually impaired, few studies explore technology for facilitating braille literacy education. Evaluations of the impact of using assistive devices on academics for children and youth who are blind or visually impaired are needed. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of technology used to support braille literacy education for children and youth.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The population of interest was defined as children and youth aged 0-21 years who were blind or visually impaired, lear

Teachers in technology education shops (TESs) in high schools are at risk from exposure to occupational hazards, including physical work demands and chemicals, particulate matter and noise, as well as non-optimal working conditions negatively affected by temperature, humidity, and lighting. This study evaluated the exposure to noise of 17 TES teachers working in 17 wood-working, metal-working, and automotive shops in selected high schools in British Columbia, Canada, and examined the quality of the acoustical teaching environments due to background noise. This study characterized noise control

Ambient AI technologies, commonly known as AI scribes, are transforming clinical practice by autonomously capturing patient-provider conversations and structuring them into clinical notes. Short-term studies suggest that ambient AI can significantly reduce documentation time and improve job satisfaction. However, as health care systems accelerate the adoption of these tools, the medical education community must seek to answer unresolved questions regarding their full impact on learners. The inevitable integration of ambient AI in teaching hospitals presents both transformative opportunities an

CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Worldwide, millions suffer from cataracts, which impair vision and quality of life. Cataract education improves outcomes, satisfaction, and treatment adherence. Lack of health literacy, language and cultural barriers, personal preferences, and limited resources may all impede effective communication.
BACKGROUND: AI can improve patient education by providing personalised, interactive, and accessible information tailored to patient understanding, interest, and motivation. AI chatbots can have human-like conversations and give advice on numerous topics.

A practical training program that enabled students to experience an aged person and hemiplegia patient was developed as part of the "Practice Program in Medical Imaging Technology," to help the students understand how to support patients in the X-ray examination setting. Eighty-three third-year radiological technology students participated in the program. During the hour-long course, they experienced a simulated program that contained various checkpoints. The students pointed out the difficulty patients had in going up and down stairs (51.8%) and their feelings of uneasiness and fear of blindn
