A pancreatic cancer-related antigen (PCRA) has been identified, isolated and characterized from liver metastases of pancreatic carcinoma. The purified PCRA was homogeneous by polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis, had an Mr of about 500,000, consisted of 30% carbohydrate and 70% protein, and migrated in the alpha 2-beta region in electrophoresis. An inhibitor of chick kidney mitochondrial 25-hydroxyvitamin D3-1-hydroxylase has been isolated from rat serum by ammonium sulfate precipitation, gel filtration, ionexchange chromatography, and preparative polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis. The effect of kinetin on aspects of the metabolism of discs cut from mature leaves of Nicotiana tabacum and cultured in the light on agar containing mineral salts and sucrose was studied. In the first few days of culture there was a rapid decline in chlorophyll content. Discs treated with kinetin in the light began to resynthesise chlorophyll after 3-4 days and this was correlated with chloroplast replication. Erythrocyte membrane proteins of premature and full-term newborn infants were analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfatepolyacrylamide gel disc electrophoresis before and after phototherapy for about 21 hours at the irradiation energy of 7.3 x 10(3) erg/cm2/sec. The protein composition of normal and pathological tears was studied by polyacrylamide-gel (disc) electrophoresis. The albumin-like fraction of psoriatic scales was isolated either directly by slab gel electroporesis or after previous treatment with polyethylene glycol6000. After both isolation procedures the amino acid composition was determined. Both proteins were rich of glutamic acid, glycine, and alanine. A polypeptide cardiotoxin containing 60 amino acids with 4 disulfide bonds has been synthesized by the "fragment solid-phase" method. The identity of the synthetic product with native cardiotoxin was established by chromatography on Sephadex G-50, carboxymethyl-cellulose column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, disc gel electrophoresis, amino acid analysis, end group analysis, peptide mapping, circular dichroism spectra, and four biological tests.

Quantitative and qualitative differences of the serum protein fractions in comparison with the control group were revealed in Shereshevsky-Turner's and Klinefelter's syndromes (26 and 21 patients, respectively); this was found to be connected with the prevalence of monosmia-X of homozygotes Hp 1-1 in Shereshevsky-Turner's syndrome, and of homozygotes Gc 2-2 in Klinefelter's syndrome. The detected features of the serum proteins in case of sex chromosomes anomalies pointed to the complicity of the genetic and hormonal regulation of blood serum composition.

Theta-Toxin, an oxygen-labile hemolysin produced by Clostridium perfringens, was purified 3300 fold from culture filtrate by successive chromatography on DEAE-Sephadex A-50 and Sephadex G-150.
