Adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) is critical for HIV treatment success, yet the impact of tuberculosis preventive therapy (TPT) remains inadequately understood. Using observational data from 4152 HIV patients in Ethiopia (2005-2024), we applied causal inference methods, including Adjusted Logistic Regression, Propensity Score Matching, and Causal Forest Double Machine Learning (DML), to estimate TPT's effect on ART adherence. The DML approach (leveraging Random Forests and orthogonalization) provided the most precise estimates after model comparison. We found TPT initiation reduced ad

OBJECTIVE: Graves' hyperthyroidism (GH) presents significant challenges in optimizing Iodine-131 (I-131) therapy, largely due to the variability in patient responses and the limitations of traditional dosing methods. This study aimed to develop and validate a Random Forest Regressor (RFR) model to predict the effective total iodine dose (TID) necessary to achieve remission in patients with GH, thereby enhancing precision and individualization in patient management.
METHODS: A retrospective cohort study design was employed, analyzing comprehensive clinical data from 975 adult GH patients who a

The increasing frequency and prominence of global public health threats put urban healthcare workers at risk of physical and mental illness. Forest therapy holds crucial importance in promoting human health as a non-material benefit obtained from ecosystems. Cultural ecosystem services (CES) profoundly influence human welfare. National parks, due to their rich biodiversity and other favorable conditions, can support forest therapy and provide CES. This study organized 32 urban healthcare workers to participate in a two-day, two-night forest therapy in the Giant Panda National Park (GPNP), whic

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is an incurable brain tumor resistant to standard treatment modalities such as surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Since recurrent GBM tends to develop predominantly within the infiltrative rim surrounding the primary tumor focus, novel therapy strategies need in addition to focal tumor destruction to target this somewhat diffuse area. This is a phase I/II clinical study in adult patients with recurrent GBM which is aimed at evaluating biological safety, maximum tolerated dose, and antitumor efficacy of a genetically modified replication-disabled Semliki forest

Depression affects more than 280 million people worldwide and remains a major public health challenge, with limited universally effective preventive strategies. Non-pharmacological interventions have gained increasing attention as complements or alternatives to pharmacotherapy. Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), a Japanese health practice involving immersion in forest environments, has been reported to relieve stress, enhance immune function, and improve mood. This review synthesizes current evidence on the potential preventive effects of forest bathing on depressive symptoms and examines the mech

Kyasanur forest disease is a neglected zoonotic disease caused by a single-stranded RNA-based flavivirus, the incidence of which was first recorded in 1957 in the Southern part of India. Kyasanur forest disease virus is transmitted to monkeys and humans through the infected tick bite of Haemophysalis spinigera. Kyasanur forest disease is a febrile illness, which in severe cases, results in neurological complications leading to mortality. The current treatment regimens are symptomatic and supportive, and no targeted therapies are available for this disease. In this study, we evaluated the abili

Forest therapy, guided by clinical professionals (psychologists or psychotherapists), is increasingly recognized as a preventive and complementary health practice with evidence-based therapeutic potential; however, the specific contribution of therapist guidance compared to self-guided immersion remains unclear. This retrospective study evaluated the short-term mental health outcomes of therapist-guided (TG) compared to self-guided (SG) forest immersion, based on the validated State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Profile of Mood States questionnaires. Data were collected from 282 adults participa

Kyasanur Forest disease is a neglected tick-borne viral haemorrhagic fever endemic to India's Western Ghats, caused by the Kyasanur Forest disease virus, a flavivirus transmitted by Haemaphysalis spinigera ticks. The virus circulates in a sylvatic cycle among monkeys, rodents, shrews, birds, and ixodid ticks, and is transmitted to humans incidentally via tick bites. Since its discovery in 1957 in Karnataka, Kyasanur Forest disease has spread to other Indian states, driven by deforestation, forest fragmentation, and increased human incursion into wildlife habitats. Clinically, the disease manif
