BACKGROUND: This study aims to evaluate the performance of ScholarGPT, a Large Language Model (LLM) developed for academic purposes, on questions related to dental avulsion. In addition, to analyze and compare it with the results of the previous study evaluating the performance of ChatGPT and Gemini.
METHOD: A total of 22 technical questions (11 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), 11 true/false (T/F)) were posed to the ScholarGPT. ScholarGPT responses were assessed using a modified Global Quality Scale (GQS). Responses were randomized using an online randomizer (www.randomizer.org) before scori

INTRODUCTION: Health literacy is a critical determinant of a patient's overall health status, and studies have demonstrated a consistent link between poor health literacy and negative health outcomes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) advise that patient educational materials (PEMs) should be written at an eighth-grade reading level or lower, matching the average reading level of adult Americans. The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of generative artificial intelligence (AI) to edit PEMs from orthopaedic institu

Cancer remains a major global health challenge, and the increasing availability of multimodal biomedical data has created unprecedented opportunities for precision oncology. Recent advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs), have enabled new approaches for integrating heterogeneous data sources, including electronic health records, medical imaging, pathology, genomics, and clinical text. However, current studies remain fragmented across specific tasks, cancer types, and model architectures, and a comprehensive synthesis of how generative AI c

INTRODUCTION: The slow pipeline of antimicrobial drug development stands in stark contrast to the continued expansion of microbial infections, which pose a persistent and major threat to global public health. Traditional discovery strategies, including natural product extraction, structural modification and high-throughput screening, are limited by low efficiency, high costs and slow innovation. Artificial intelligence (AI), particularly machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing, is now reshaping drug discovery, bringing unprecedented speed and precision to the developme

BACKGROUND: This study assessed the effectiveness of large language models (LLMs) in generating lay summaries for patient education on the management of precancerous lesions and early neoplasia in the stomach.
METHODS: In this pilot study, we used a two-period, crossover, blinded design to compare a ChatGPT-4o summary versus a Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE) summary. Two panels rated the materials: expert physicians and DiCE Patient Advisory Committee members. Experts scored accuracy, completeness, comprehensibility, and satisfaction (across five sections); patients rated overall completeness

Chronic pain is a complex biopsychosocial condition that imposes substantial clinical and socioeconomic burdens worldwide. Although digital health interventions increasingly support chronic pain management, the role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) remains insufficiently characterized. This scoping review mapped applications of generative AI in chronic pain and identified research gaps. PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched on October 19, 2025, using "chronic pain" combined with five named generative AI systems. Primary research studies published in English that focused on

BACKGROUND: Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) can automate time-intensive tasks and support clinical decision-making in care settings. Nurses require appropriate competencies to ensure that integration of GenAI strengthens care quality and patient safety. However, validated literacy assessment tools remain limited. In particular, instruments tailored to nurses' role-specific GenAI competencies, including hallucination detection, risk identification, and ethical accountability, are lacking. These gaps highlight the need for a nurse-specific GenAI literacy scale.
OBJECTIVE: This study

Generative AI is rapidly reshaping how people seek emotional and psychological support. Millions now turn to large language model (LLM)-based chatbots for advice, consolation, and interactions that may feel surprisingly “therapeutic.” Yet these systems are not clinicians, and many operate outside established clinical, ethical, and legal oversight frameworks, without the capacity to assess risk, exercise professional judgment, or manage crises. Importantly, the risks posed by these tools are not uniform; they vary according to user vulnerability, deployment context, degree of human oversight, a

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), including large language models and large multimodal models, is increasingly used to support psychological assessment and digital mental health measurement. This review proposes a lifecycle framework for evaluating these uses without weakening psychometric standards. The framework covers construct definition; item, prompt, indicator, or signal generation; evaluation of content, response processes, usability, and data quality; piloting and calibration; validation; fairness and measurement invariance; scoring and interpretation; documentation; and post

Liver transplantation : official publication of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the International Liver Transplantation Society2026eng
Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in liver transplantation (LT), spanning patient selection, donor-recipient matching, intraoperative management, and post-transplant care. Historically, applications have relied on traditional machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques trained on structured clinical datasets to improve risk stratification and outcome prediction. Since 2023, however, advances in generative AI (GenAI) and large language models (LLMs) have expanded the scope of AI in LT, enabling multimodal reasoning and the extraction of clinically me

Generative adversarial networks (GANs), introduced by Ian Goodfellow in 2014, have revolutionized adversarial machine learning, particularly in data synthesis. This manuscript explores their application in ophthalmic diagnostics, addressing the scarcity of annotated datasets and the need for improved early disease detection. By leveraging GAN architectures, the goal is to enhance the quality of synthetic ophthalmic images, ultimately improving diagnostic algorithm training. A systematic review was conducted from January to April 2024 across PubMed, Embase, and Scopus. Search terms included "Ge

Generative AI (GenAI) is a disruptive technology likely to generate a major impact on faculty and learners in medical education. This work aims to measure the perception of GenAI among medical educators and to gain insights into its major advantages and concerns in medical education. A survey invitation was distributed to medical education faculty of colleges of allopathic and osteopathic medicine within a single university during the fall of 2023. The survey comprised 12 items, among those assessing the role of GenAI for students and educators, the need to modify teaching approaches, GenAI's

This study aimed to examine the multidimensional nature of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) addiction among undergraduate students. For this purpose, firstly, the Generative Artificial Intelligence Addiction Scale (GAI-AS) was developed and administered to 919 undergraduate students. The GAI-AS was designed as a psychometrically valid instrument to assess addictive patterns of GAI use across four dimensions: salience, excessive dependency, mood modification, and functional impairment. The findings provide strong evidence of the scale's validity and reliability. Subsequently, the valida

BACKGROUND: Central line-associated blood stream infection (CLABSI) surveillance is mandated and publicly reported in United States hospitals but requires manual chart review. Generative artificial intelligence (AI) may facilitate CLABSI identification.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of CLABSI surveillance using standardized prompts, clinical data, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention definitions. In 11 hospitals, 24 infection control nurses and physicians retrospectively reviewed 220 CLABSI/non-CLABSI bacteremias. Three methods of review were compared to origina
