A previously unreported case of Barber-Say syndrome is described with special attention to dental manifestations. A 7-year-old female with multiple congenital anomalies such mammary gland hypoplasia, hypertrichosis, ectropion, and redundant skin was seen at the School of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo. Oral examination revealed macrostomia, broad alveolar ridges, gingival fibromatosis, taurodontism, delayed tooth eruption, and malocclusion. Dental treatment included gingivoplasty and orthodontic treatment.

This case report describes the formation of an unusual unaesthetic gingival enlargement during a five year post operative period subsequent to a subepithelial connective tissue graft placed facial to teeth #4 and #6. Histological assessment of the enlarged tissue indicated that it consisted of viable bone and marrow. The exostosis was reduced with rotary instruments and acceptable soft tissue aesthetics were created using a carbon dioxide laser for gingivoplasty. Possible causes for this unusual enlargement are discussed.

This case report describes the oral rehabilitation of a female child with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia over a 6-year time period. It demonstrates the need for periodic modification and replacement of a prosthesis, an orthodontic appliance, and a gingivoplasty. Although the initial treatment plan was considered to be a compromise due to limited cooperation, an improvement was observed in the patient's social behavior as a consequence of her dental treatment. The effects of unavoidable changes in the dental team over 6 years are also discussed.

INTRODUCTION: Several treatment options have been introduced for removal of gingival hyperplasic lesions, but using diode lasers have many advantages such as less bleeding, time saving, better shaping, improved healing and less complication for the patients.
CASE: A 15-year-old girl with multiple fibroma-like lesions in the oral cavity, who had a medical history of tuberous sclerosis, was selected for gingivoplasty treatment with 810nm diode laser.
RESULT: A perfect shaping was obtained after removal of the whole lesion in one session and no recurrence was observed in 6 months.

Surgical methods used for repair of gingival recession are reviewed. Modern methods and means of plastic periodontal surgery solve many esthetic problems. The prognosis of the results of gingival plasty in cases of recession of different classes is now becoming more and more favorable.
