Probiotics-Fermented Grifola frondosa Total Active Components: Better Antioxidation and Microflora Regulation for Alleviating Alcoholic Liver Damage in Mice.

Alcoholic liver damage is caused by long-term drinking, and it further develops into alcoholic liver diseases. In this study, we prepared a probiotic fermentation product of Grifola frondosa total active components (PFGF) by fermentation with Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Pediococcus acidilactici. After fermentation, the total sugar and protein content in the PFGF significantly decreased, while the lactic acid level and antioxidant activity of the PFGF increased. Afterward, we investigated the alleviating effect of PFGF on alcoholic liver injury in alcohol-fed mice. T

The polysaccharides from Grifola frondosa attenuate CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats via the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway.

The TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway has been linked to hepatic fibrosis. Previous studies have shown that yellow polysaccharide can prevent the development of hepatic fibrosis. However, it is unclear whether the polysaccharide affects the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway. In this experiment, 50 experimental rats were randomly divided into a normal control group, model group, low GFP dose group (50 mg kg-1), medium GFP dose group (100 mg kg-1), and high GFP dose group (200 mg kg-1). A cirrhotic portal hypertension rat model was established by a CCl4 compound method. After 12 weeks of intragastric ad

Long-term consumption of different doses of Grifola frondosa affects immunity and metabolism: correlation with intestinal mucosal microbiota and blood lipids.

BACKGROUND: The use of microorganisms in remediating environmental contaminants such as crude oil sludge has become a promising technique owing to its economy and the fact it is environmentally friendly. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), as the major components of oil sludge, are hydrophobic and recalcitrant. An important way of enhancing the rate of PAH desorption is to compost crude oil sludge by incorporating commercial surfactants, thereby making them available for microbial degradation. In this study, crude oil sludge was composted for 16 weeks during which surfactants were added i

Valorization of Grifola frondosa processing by-products: purification, structural characterization, and anti-EV71 bioactivity of a novel low-molecular-weight polysaccharide-peptide.

BACKGROUND: The large volume of supernatant generated during Grifola frondosa extraction is typically discarded, resulting in substantial resource waste and environmental pressure. Such agro-fungal processing by-products are rich in potentially bioactive macromolecules, but efficient recycling strategies and biofunctional verification remain limited. Meanwhile, safe natural antiviral ingredients for pediatric enterovirus infection are lacking. This study established a sustainable chromatographic bioprocess to recover a low-molecular-weight polysaccharide-peptide (LMWPP) from G. frondosa waste

Black Maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa) extract exerts anti-cancer effects and enhances the efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs in 2D and 3D models of triple-negative breast cancer.

INTODUCTION: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive breast cancer subtype that lacks hormone receptors and HER2 amplification, limiting targeted therapy options. Chemotherapeutics like cisplatin and taxol are commonly used but lack selectivity, often causing harsh side effects. These limitations have led to increased interest in natural health products (NHPs) as complementary treatments due to their potential anticancer benefits and lower toxicity. Black Maitake mushroom (Grifola frondosa), used in traditional Chinese medicine, contains polysaccharides with reported anticancer a
