Although robotic surgery is widely accepted as the gold standard approach for a variety of operative procedures, the Caribbean region lacked access to surgical robotics until recently. The surgical fraternity in Guyana recognized the need for progress to robotic surgery. METHODS: Medical records and clinic registers were reviewed at nine TB clinics and 10 HIV clinics. At TB clinics, data were collected on HIV testing and antiretroviral therapy (ART) for patients with TB/HIV; at HIV clinics, data were collected on intensified case finding (ICF), tuberculin skin test (TST) results, and provision of isoniazid preventive therapy (IPT).

Appendicitis and intussusception are two potentially fatal surgical pathologies occurring at different peak age groups. Simultaneous presentation of both is rare. We present such a case in an eight-month-old infant who required successful emergency laparotomy with right hemicolectomy and primary anastomosis. Appendicitis was confirmed histologically.
