Three isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were used for seed treatment of rice; all showed plant growth promoting activity and induced systemic resistance in rice against Rhizoctonia solani G5 and increased seed yield. In 1984, 31 per cent of 437 ram lambs reared on one property were found to have either bilateral or unilateral testicular hypoplasia. Similar numbers of ram lambs were reared in the next three years and 13, 2 and 0.5 per cent were affected. Severely abnormal testicles typically produced no spermatozoa and presented a 'Sertoli cell only' picture. Sixty-six of 200 ewe lambs born in 1984 were not marked by a harnessed teaser before mating; 12 of these were examined further and eight were found to have bilateral ovarian hypoplasia. The ovaries were very small and contained no oocytes or follicles.

The aim of this study was to determine the aeroallergen sensitivity of allergic rhinitis patients. A total of 100 cases (female: 59, male: 41, aged between 10-59 years, mean age 27.9 years) who were diagnosed with allergic rhinitis by history and clinical presentation, underwent a prick skin test with 30 aeroallergens, and the important sensitizing allergens were assessed. During a retrospective survey of patients with pulmonary shadows and blood eosinophilia between the years 1965 and 1980, 42 patients were found with allergic bronchopulmonary fungal disease. Eleven of these had no clinical evidence of asthma. Three of these 11 had hypersensitivity to fungi other than Aspergillus sp. In the absence of asthma there was some difficulty in making a diagnosis, particularly where collapse of the upper lobe occurred in middle-aged or elderly patients and bronchogenic carcinoma was presumed responsible. This report describes the sequence of fungal colonization and the influence of biocide incorporation on paint films, determined using quantitative methods. We have reported 7 new cases of Bipolaris infection and 2 of Exserohilum infection, which demonstrate the capability of these 2 genera to cause invasive as well as "allergic" disease.
