Refractory Hydroa Vacciniforme-like Lymphoma: Biological Insights from Morphoproteomic Analysis.

T-cell/natural killer cell lymphoproliferative disorders are rare, associated with poor overall survival, and have limited treatment options. We report a case of a patient who developed hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoma (HVLL, an EBV-peripheral T-cell lymphoma), refractory to multiple lines of systemic therapy including methotrexate, mycophenolate mofetil, dapsone, thalidomide, prednisone, and romidepsin. We conducted morphoproteomic analysis of the patient's tumor which provided important biological insights. Histopathology showed primarily lymphohistiocytic infiltrates strongly positive EBV

Severe hydroa vacciniforme-like eruptions confined to sun-exposed areas.

A 15-year-old boy presented with vesiculopapular eruptions confined to sun-exposed areas from the age of 3. Histopathological examination of biopsy specimens of repetitive UVA-irradiated areas revealed reticular degeneration of the epidermis, and dermal infiltrates in the photoinduced lesions showed a latent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. At the age of 21, the number of skin lesions had increased, and his anti-EBV antibody titers revealed an abnormal profile: an undetectable anti-EBV nuclear antigen antibody titer despite a detectable antiviral capsid antigen IgG antibody titer. No infect

Hydroa Vacciniforme-Like T-Cell Lymphoma: A Further Brazilian Case.

Hydroa vacciniforme (HV)-like lymphoma is a rare, usually fatal Epstein-Barr virus-driven lymphoproliferative disease affecting children from Asia, Mexico, and South America. Cutaneous manifestations imitate HV, a benign photodermatosis in which systemic symptoms are not observed, and spontaneous regression occurs later in adolescence or young adulthood. We report a case of HV-like lymphoma in a 12-year-old girl, descendent from an ancient Amazon indigenous tribe that, as far as we know, represents the second Brazilian case ever reported in the medical literature.

Hydroa vacciniforme: A clinical and follow-up study of 17 cases.

BACKGROUND: Hydroa vacciniforme (HV) is a rare, sporadic, idiopathic photodermatosis characterized by vesicles and crust formation after sunlight exposure. The lesions typically heal with vacciniform scarring. OBJECTIVE: We identify and review the clinical features and follow-up data of Scottish patients with HV and report on the prevalence of this condition. This is the largest recent study of HV patients from a single center. METHODS: In this retrospective study, patients with HV were identified by means of the diagnostic database from the Photobiology Unit, Dundee. Patients were contacted

The association of latent Epstein-Barr virus infection with hydroa vacciniforme.

Patients with hydroa vacciniforme (HV)-like eruptions and malignant potential have been reported from Asia and Mexico, and those patients frequently had an associated latent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. In order to elucidate the association of latent EBV infection with HV, we studied six children with typical manifestations of HV by detection of EBV genes and EBV-related RNAs in biopsy specimens from cutaneous lesions. Cutaneous lesions of all six children with typical HV contained EBV-encoded small nuclear RNA (EBER)+ cells in 3-10% of the dermal infiltrates, whereas no Bam HI-H, l-fra

Hydroa vacciniforme-like Epstein-Barr virus-associated lymphoproliferative disease: a case report.

We report a case of hydroa vacciniforme-like skin eruptions with chronic active Epstein-Barr virus infection in a 16-year-old boy. The patient had repeated episodes of vesiculo-necrotic eruptions on the face, trunk, and extremities for 13 years. General symptoms included fever, splenomegaly, and abnormal liver function. Histopathological examination of skin biopsy specimen demonstrated dense infiltration of lymphocytes, histocytes, and some neutrophils and plasma cells in the dermis. Immunohistochemical stain revealed that the lymphocytes were positive for T cell and B cell markers. Epstein-Ba

[Delayed diagnosis of hydroa vacciniforme-like lymphoproliferative disorder in a patient with skin rashes].

Chronic active Epstein-Barr virus (CAEBV) infection is characterized by persistent EBV infection and can lead to fatal conditions such as hemophagocytic syndrome and malignant lymphoma through the clonal expansion of EBV-infected T or natural killer (NK) cells. Hydroa vacciniforme lymphoproliferative disorder (HV) and hypersensitivity to mosquito bites (HMB) have been identified as skin diseases in EBV-associated T- or NK-cell lymphoproliferative diseases. We present the case of a 33-year-old man. The patient had frequent episodes of a facial rash for three years before he visited our hospital

Hydroa vacciniforme: a distinctive form of Epstein-Barr virus-associated T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders.

Hydroa vacciniforme (HV) is a cutaneous subset of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated T/NK lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs). Our previous case series study clearly showed a clinical spectrum of EBV-associated T/NK LPDs including HV, hypersensitivity to mosquito bites (HMB), chronic active EBV infection (CAEBV), and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Patients with HV are divided into two groups: a benign subtype designated "classic HV" (cHV) and more serious systemic HV (sHV), also called "HV-like LPD" in the 2017 World Health Organization (WHO) classification. Patients with cHV usua
