Peutz Jeghers syndrome (gastro-intestinal polyposis) and its complications.

In the context of aging, the susceptibility to infectious diseases increases, leading to heightened morbidity and mortality. This phenomenon, termed immunosenescence, is characterized by dysregulation in the aging immune system, including abnormal alterations in lymphocyte composition, elevated basal inflammation, and the accumulation of senescent T cells. Such changes contribute to increased autoimmune diseases, enhanced infection severity, and reduced responsiveness to vaccines. Utilizing aging animal models becomes imperative for a comprehensive understanding of immunosenescence, given the

Primary intestinal follicular lymphoma presenting as multiple lymphomatous polyposis.

Multiple lymphomatous polyposis (MLP) is a rare condition, described in the literature as a presentation of extranodal mantle cell lymphoma. We report a rare case of follicular lymphoma presenting as MLP in a young woman with a short history of haematochezia who underwent colonoscopy. Immunohistochemistry on colonic biopsies confirmed follicular lymphoma. Microscopic examination found an extensive and dense lymphoid infiltrate, which demonstrated a follicular growth pattern. The neoplastic cells were positive with BCL2, BCL6, CD10 and CD20, and were negative with CD3, CD5, Cyclin D1 and SOX11.

Sotos syndrome with intestinal polyposis and pigmentary changes of the genitalia.

We report two adult males with the Sotos syndrome, who also presented intestinal polyposis and pigmentary spotting of the shaft and glans penis. We propose that patients with the Sotos syndrome may develop hamartoneoplastic disease and we urge clinicians to consider this possibility in those patients.

[Dermatology and polyposis of the gastro-intestinal tract (author's transl)].

The authors study three rare syndromes which are characterized by the association of cutaneous manifestations with an intestinal polyposis: Gardner's syndrome, Peutz-Jeghers-Touraine's syndrome, Cronkhite-Canada's syndrome. The Gardner's syndrome is transmitted with an autosomal prevalence, and its vital prognosis remains very porr. It is characterized by the association of various cutaneous manifestations such as fibromas, freckles, etc. with osteomas, neuro-fibromas and polyps of the large bowel. Its severity is related to the very early malignant degeneration of digestive polyps. The Peutz-

Plasmablastic Lymphoma presenting as small intestinal polyposis: A case-report.

Plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) is a relatively new entity, classified by WHO as a rare variant of diffuse large B cell lymphoma. The present case report introduces a 17 year old girl with chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, intra-abdominal venous thromboses, ascites, mesenteric lymphadenopathies and small intestinal polyposis, the pathologic and immunohistochemistric examinations of the polypoid lesions were in favor of PBL. Numerous cases of PBL have been reported, but to our knowledge, this is the first report of PBL presenting as small intestinal polyposis.Among lymphomas, only mantle cell lymp

Peutz-Jeghers' syndrome--juvenile intestinal polyposis--review of five cases.

During the past 30 years, authors observed and followed 5 patients with Peutz-Jeghers' syndrome. Four of them had diffuse polyposis of stomach, small bowel and colon. They also had severe clinical presentation of the disease, with recurring colicky pain, haemorrhage, anaemia and intussusception, all of which necessitated frequent surgical treatment. Excised polyps presented as benign hamartomas, without malignant alteration. Mucocutaneous pigmentations were present in 4 patients. Family history was revealing in only 2 cases. One patient, a girl aged 2 years, died due to the complications of th

[Co-existence of fibrous bone dysplasia and familial intestinal polyposis].

The aetiology of fibrous bone dysplasia is unknown. Combinations with endocrine and non-endocrine diseases are recognised. The co-existence of polyostotic fibrous dysplasia with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome has not been previously described. A patient is now reported who had both these diseases. They have in common a benign proliferative tendency in various organs, but the common denominator is unknown. The basic relationship between the conditions requires further observation and study.

[Intestinal polyposis in children. Description and differential diagnosis of 2 cases].

The case of a 21-month-old girl with lymphoid nodular hyperplasia and the case of a 9-year-old girl with familial adenomatous polyposis are described. Both patients presented rectal bleeding. A defect of secretory IgA was found in the first patient. In both cases diagnosis was based on medical history, barium enema with aircontrast technique, colonscopy, and endoscopic biopsy. Differential diagnosis and diagnostic procedures in these two diseases are discussed.

Familial intestinal polyposis and device assisted enteroscopy: where do we stand?

INTRODUCTION: Hereditary polyposis syndromes are a group of inherited disorders associated with a high risk of developing colorectal cancer. The best known ones are familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), Peutz-Jeghers (PJS), juvenile polyposis and Cowden syndromes, as well as conditions predisposing to cancer, such as Lynch syndrome. Some of them are characterized by an increased risk of small bowel polyps occurrence. AREAS COVERED: Literature search in PubMed was performed in November 2022 and a narrative review was carried out. Since performing small bowel polypectomy is important in such pa

Gardner syndrome associated with multiple osteomas, intestinal polyposis, and epidermoid cysts.

Gardner syndrome is known as a variant of familial adenomatous polyposis. This syndrome is characterized by multiple intestinal polyposes, osteomas, and epidermoid cysts. In addition, dental abnormalities include an increased frequency of multiple odontomas, as well as supernumerary and impacted teeth. The authors report the case of a 7-year-old male patient with Gardner syndrome. Radiographic findings revealed multiple osteomas in both sides of the maxilla, multiple diffuse enostoses in both jaws, and a complex odontoma in the left mandibular body. Two years later, multiple epidermoid cysts o

Primary intestinal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma forming multiple lymphomatous polyposis.

Multifocal and skip involvement is quite a rare developmental pattern for primary gastrointestinal lymphomas. A 25-year-old male patient with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the small intestine, with macroscopic features and clinical aspects imitating Crohn's disease and attracting attention with cobblestone-like appearance, is presented herein together with the clinical and pathological features.Multiple ulcerated lesions were also observed infiltrating the serosa with polypoid appearance, 2.5 cm in largest diameter, within the resected jejunoileal specimen, which displayed patchy, healthy-a

[Turcot syndrome--a rare extra-intestinal manifestation of familial adenomatous polyposis?].

The case of a 15-year-old male with Turcot syndrome is presented. When the patient was aged 10 years a medulloblastoma was diagnosed. Five years later he developed multiple adenomatous polyps of the colon and multiple "congenital hypertrophy of the retina" (CHRPE), the most common extraintestinal manifestation of FAP, were described. Family history revealed familial adenomatous polyposis with 12 family members exhibiting a FAP. The mode of inheritance of Turcot syndrome is controverted. Our case strengthens the hypothesis that the syndrome is a further extraintestinal (rare) manifestation of t

Collaborating genomic, transcriptomic and microbiomic alterations lead to canine extreme intestinal polyposis.

Extreme intestinal polyposis in pet dogs has not yet been reported in literature. We identified a dog patient who developed numerous intestinal polyps, with the severity resembling human classic familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), except the jejunum-ileum junction being the most polyp-dense. We investigated this dog, in comparison with 22 other dogs with spontaneous intestinal tumors but no severe polyposis, and with numerous published human cancers. We found, not APC mutation, but three other alteration pathways as likely reasons of this canine extreme polyposis. First, somatic truncation m

Extensive colorectal lymphomatous polyposis complicated by acute intestinal obstruction: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Multiple lymphomatous polyposis is a rare type of gastrointestinal lymphoma that extensively infiltrates the intestine. Multiple lymphomatous polyposis originates from the mantle zone of the lymphoma follicle and is considered to be a mantle cell lymphoma, which is a relatively aggressive type of B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. We report an unusual case of a patient with multiple lymphomatous polyposis with extensive colorectal involvement and acute intestinal obstruction, an atypical complication of this rare disease. On the basis of this case study, the pitfalls in gastrointestina

A Unique Presentation of Primary Intestinal MALT Lymphoma as Multiple Lymphomatous Polyposis.

Multiple lymphomatous polyposis is considered to be a rare condition, with most of the cases being extranodal counterpart of mantle cell lymphomas. We report a rare case of multiple lymphomatous polyposis of the gastrointestinal tract in which the patient presented with abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. Computer tomography of the abdomen showed circumferential wall thickening with intramural mass involving caecum & ascending colon with enlarged pericolonic lymph nodes. The patient underwent right hemicolectomy. Immunohistologic findings were characteristic of MALT lymphoma. Microscopic exami
