Job satisfaction and job tenure of people with mental health disorders: a UK Biobank cohort study.

AIMS: Job satisfaction plays an important role for the life quality and health of working individuals. While studies have shown that self-reported mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety and depression are associated with job satisfaction, a large population-based study exploring and comparing self-reported physician posed diagnosed conditions and their association with job satisfaction and job tenure is missing. This study addresses the gap along with exploring the impact of the neurotic personality trait and other possible contributing factors. METHODS: Sixteen mental health disord

Job Demands, Job Resources, and Turnover Intention Among South Korean Probation Officers: Pathways Through Work-to-Family Conflict, Depressive Symptoms, and Job Satisfaction.

Guided by the Job Demands-Resources model, this study examined how job demands and job resources were associated with turnover intention among South Korean probation officers through work-to-family conflict, depressive symptoms, and job satisfaction. This secondary analysis used probation-officer data from a broader 2024 national occupational survey covering probation and related juvenile-justice services; the analytic sample comprised 345 officers with a spouse or cohabiting partner. Structural equation modeling showed that workload burden, professional burden, and perceived physical threat w

Organizational and individual factors affecting mental health and job satisfaction: a multilevel analysis of job control and personality.

This study evaluated variation at the individual and work unit levels in the relations of job control, hostility, and trait anxiety to mental health and job satisfaction. Questionnaire data from a sample of 2,900 employees working at 152 hospital wards were analyzed by means of multilevel regression analyses. Results showed that mental health (General Health Questionnaire-12), varying mainly at the individual level, was explained mostly by hostility and trait anxiety. Job satisfaction varied significantly at the individual and the ward level. Job control accounted for most of this multilevel v

The Mediating Role of Emotional Intelligence in the Job Satisfaction and Job Performance of Medical Secretaries: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background/Objectives: Medical secretaries, who serve as patients' first point of contact and are frequently exposed to stress arising from illness, waiting, and the hospital environment, remain under-examined in health-workforce research. Previous studies have positioned emotional intelligence in different roles within job-attitude and performance models, including as an antecedent of job satisfaction. Because cross-sectional self-report data cannot establish temporal ordering or causal mediation, the present study examined whether emotional intelligence statistically accounts for part of the

Violence, job satisfaction, and employment intentions among home healthcare registered nurses.

Workplace violence, defined as violent acts directed toward workers, includes physical assault, threat of assault, and verbal abuse and is widely recognized as a threat to workers' health and safety. Healthcare workers, especially nurses, are known to be at high risk. As employees who work alone, have access to drugs, provide care to people in distress, and/or have frequent close contact with clients, they face a greater likelihood of exposure to violence. Nurses' risk has been correlated with degree of patient contact; the odds of physical violence are 7.2 and 9.0 times greater for healthcare

Nursing leaders in Taiwan seldom receive the leadership training necessary to lead an academic organization. As a result, leaders may experience burn out, and dissatisfaction among faculty may increase. This study examined nursing faculty members' perceptions of nursing directors' leadership and their job satisfaction levels to understand how perceptions of leadership styles related to job satisfaction in Taiwan. This descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study used self-administered questionnaires. Transformational leadership theory supported the research framework. Nine schools with nu

Career aspirations, job satisfaction and gender identity in female student nurses.

This study examines the gender-role orientation, gender-role conflict, job commitment and work motivation of female student nurses in the Republic of Ireland. Career aspirations, year of nurse training and geographical area of upbringing were examined as potential concomitants of these dependent measures. Subjects completed self-report measures of job involvement, work motivation, gender-role orientation and gender-role conflict. Results obtained showed that aspiring towards a traditionally female career area of nursing was associated with higher levels of work motivation and lower levels of g

Emotional demands and entrepreneurial burnout: the role of autonomy and job satisfaction.

BACKGROUND: Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is an autonomic nervous system disorder causing an abnormal cardiovascular response to upright posture. It affects around 0.2% of the population, most commonly women aged 13 to 50 years. POTS can be debilitating; prolonged episodes of pre-syncope and fatigue can severely affect activities of daily living and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Medical treatment is limited and not supported by randomised controlled trial (RCT) evidence. Lifestyle interventions are first-line treatment, including increased fluid and salt intake, co
