C. G. Jung and the shaman's vision.

Implications for Modern Analysis and Psychotherapy. After this rather wide-ranging journey reviewing the shamanic archetype with Jung as its centre, we come back to the question of what all this means for the present age. We are now into the second generation as followers of Jung in terms of the movement that has developed bearing his name. It is clear that the original founder, himself, performed the functions of a primitive shaman by the influence he has exerted on a culture and its power to deal with the elements of healing and curing. He has fused science and religion, or the rational and

C. G. Jung's Concept of "Manic Mood" From 1904: An Early Contribution to the Disorder of the Adult Form of ADHD?

BACKGROUND: Adult ADHD has increasingly become a focus in adult psychiatry. Despite well-established diagnostic criteria and specific therapeutic approaches, contemporary discussions often dismiss ADHD as a "fad." This study examines Carl Gustav Jung's 1904 concept of "manic mood" and its potential alignment with the modern understanding of ADHD in adults. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this paper is to investigate and discuss whether Jung's concept of "manic mood" can be considered part of the intellectual history of adult ADHD. METHOD: Jung's concept of "manic mood" is analyzed and presented using

[The Jung model of active style of schema].

Yung was of an opinion that the borderline personality as a pathology results from the experiences of a frightened and violence-experiencing child who is left to their own devices in the hostile world. In that situation, the child, longing for safety, simultaneously experiences fear of abuse, hurt and rejection and remains distrustful. In order to understand the dramatic changes in the individual's behaviour, in case of the borderline personality disorders, Yung developed the concept, presented by Aaron Beck at the therapeutic workshops in the 1980s. Beck's concept was based upon the assumptio

Stolen Identities, Suspended Lives. Embodied Active Imagination in Clinical Work with Victims of State Terrorism.

Each collective trauma holds its own particularities and forms of horror. When the violence is exerted by the government responsible for the care of the population it is termed state terrorism. The traumatic experience and its subsequent negation create a profound dissociation between two narratives: the explicit, which conceals the true facts, and the implicit, which remains unconscious and unbridgeable. In the gap between the two, life becomes suspended. From a Jungian perspective, this can be understood as the interruption of the process of translation and integration (terms that I will exp

Trauma, resilience and healthy and unhealthy forms of dissociation.

This paper outlines the difference between healthy and unhealthy forms of dissociation following, and in response to, traumatic experience, in particular the experience of refugees, calling on 30 years' experience in working with refugees in voluntary and public sectors, including 20 years at the Refugee Therapy Centre, London. It differentiates dissociation from repression, and looks at some of the specific traumatic experiences associated with refugees' displacement and situation, particularly relating to loss. Four key characteristics of resilience are described: 'psychic space', 'sense of

Regression and stagnation.

In this paper regression is discussed as a process that can occur both in neurosis and in personality disorder. Regression is contrasted with the phenomenon of stagnation, which is a state characteristic of personality disorder. The aetiology of both regression and stagnation is based on Fordham's theory of deintegration. His concept of the defences of the primal self explains the phenomenon of stagnation. Clinical material is presented. Emphasis is laid on the difference between the treatment of neurotic and stagnated patients. The significance of specific archetypal images that arise in the

Al-assisted symbolic healing for digital natives: A Jungian perspective based on the S-O-R and Fogg behavior models.

This study examines the design of emotional healing interventions for Generation Z individuals experiencing anxiety and investigates the mechanisms of AI-assisted collaborative drawing in addressing their needs for personalized and interactive emotional regulation. Drawing on Jungian theory of artistic compensation to evaluate AI-based art therapy, and integrating the S-O-R (Stimulus-Organism-Response) model and the FBM (Fogg Behavior Model), we analyzed how the intelligent mechanisms of AI collaborative painting contribute to emotional healing. We established three art therapy groups-generati

'In a dark time, the eye begins to see'.

In this paper I discuss a patient whose shadow became his rival, or as Jung put it, 'The shadow is lived'. I describe the beginning of a process of the assimilation of shadow contents, whereby the rupture between ego and shadow can no longer be maintained. I also discuss how it is primarily through the mutual experience and analysis of archetypal images that the unconscious contents become more integrated. In my clinical illustrations I also explore the relationship between my patient's fight with his shadow and his experiences of childhood shame. I consider how fear expressed through a panic

[Revalidation of the Saul and Sheppard "Dream Hostility Counts" in a time series of 24 dreams, of which 7 ended in a migraine at awakening].

Our Series of 24 dreams can be used for validating hostility scales. Nocturnal migraine represents an ideal archimedian point (C. G. Jung) from which psychology can reach certainties comparable to those of physics. By Pearsons Phi coefficient psychological findings can be solidly moored to the "non-psychical", the somatic sphere. Revalidation of the Dream-Hostility-Count lead us to a higher degree of significance (p < 0.005 instead of p < 0.01) than that reached by Saul and Sheppard who used hypertensives for a critical group.

Eco-anxiety in everyday life: facing the anxiety and fear of a degraded Earth in analytic work.

This paper focuses on eco-anxiety, an over-arching term used to describe anxiety caused by the climate crisis and the impacts of environmental contamination, environmental disasters, species extinctions and ecological system degradation. A brief literature review of eco-anxiety is provided from both psychoanalytic and Jungian perspectives which includes a discussion of Jung's view of our split with nature, displacement anxiety, precarity, climate change denial, and anticipatory anxiety. The author draws on his own theory of what he calls the Nature archetype to explicate the psychological chan

A curious metaphor. Engaging with trauma: an analytical perspective.

This paper explores the metaphor of in vitro fertilization in respect to those parts of the individual 'frozen' through early trauma. It describes the conditions necessary for the reintroduction of the frozen 'embryo' in the therapeutic relationship through use of an extended example. The role of the analytic relationship and the analyst's countertransference are highlighted within the context of implications for the process of therapy.

UNLABELLED: Jungian Psychotherapy: Effectiveness in Training Contexts Objectives: This study examined the effectiveness of Jungian psychotherapy by measuring changes in symptoms, structural level, and quality of life in 104 patients treated within a German training institute. METHODS: A pre-post design was used with standardized instruments (ISR, FLZ, OPD-SFK). RESULTS: Significant improvements were found in depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms (d = 0.555-1.174), as well as in self-perception and relational functioning. No significant change was observed in eating disorder

Union and separation in the therapy of pervasive developmental disorders and ADHD.

This paper discusses the characteristics of psychotherapy for pervasive developmental disorders (PDD) in the context of the curative effects of the movement of images. The 'autistic spectrum' is widened here and includes not only PDD, but also ADHD. The main common characteristic in these two sets of disorders seems to be the lack of a subject, which manifests itself as the absence of awareness of otherness and difficulties with boundaries and language. In these cases a normal psychotherapy is ineffective as it presupposes an established subject. However a psychotherapeutic approach with these

Lullament: lullaby and lament therapeutic qualities actualized through music therapy.

Lullabies and laments promote new awareness, enculturation, adaptation, and grief expression. These concepts' relevance to palliative care, however, has not been examined. In this study, a music therapist used a grounded theory-informed design to reflexively analyze lullaby and lament qualities, evident in more than 20 years of personal palliative care practice. Thus, the construct "lullament" emerged, which signified helpful moments when patients' and families' personal and sociohistorical relationship with lullabies and laments were actualized. Specific music could be both a lullaby and a la
