Comparative genomic analysis of hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide metabolic pathways in Limosilactobacillus fermentum.

Limosilactobacillus fermentum strains influence human health through distinct metabolic pathways; however, the genetic basis of these strain-specific functions remains unclear. This study investigated phenotypic divergence between two L. fermentum strains isolated from the human oral microbiome. Despite 98.2% average nucleotide identity, comparative genomics revealed substantial strain-specific gene repertoires (485 and 542 unique genes in DM072 and DM075, respectively). Functional characterization demonstrated that DM072 synthesizes hydrogen peroxide via pyruvate oxidase (EC 1.2.3.3; K00158),

Antimicrobial activity of Limosilactobacillus fermentum strains isolated from the human oral cavity against Streptococcus mutans.

Oral probiotics have been recently gaining much attention owing to their potential to inhibit the progression of dental caries by controlling the cariogenic effects of Streptococcus mutans. We isolated and genotypically identified 77 lactic acid bacteria including 12 Limosilactobacillus fermentum probiotic candidates from the oral cavity of healthy volunteers. Among the 12 L. fermentum isolates, nine isolates effectively inhibited the growth of S. mutans via hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production. The others neither suppressed the growth of S. mutans nor produced H2O2. Eight out of the nine H2O2-

Anticandidal Efficacy of Oral Probiont Limosilactobacillus fermentum Against Dental Caries Pathogens in Children, Tamil Nadu, India.

Functional proteomics of membrane proteins is an important tool for the understanding of protein networks in biological membranes but structural studies on this part of the proteome are limited. In this study we undertook such an approach to analyse photosynthetic thylakoid membranes isolated from wild-type and mutant strains of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Thylakoid membrane proteins were separated by high-resolution two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and analysed by immuno-blotting and mass spectrometry for the presence of membrane-spanning proteins. Our data show that light-harvesting

Synergistic anti-Helicobacter pylori efficacy of a molecularly identified Limosilactobacillus fermentum isolate in combination with multiple antibiotics.

BACKGROUND: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a Gram-negative gastric pathogen resistant to the acidic stomach environment through urease-mediated neutralization, enabling colonization of the gastric mucosa. It is a major cause of gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric cancer, and was classified as a Class I carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in 1994. Rising antibiotic resistance has limited the efficacy of conventional therapies, highlighting the need for alternative or adjunct antimicrobial strategies. METHODS: Forty lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolat
