A new approach for sulfite determination by headspace liquid-phase microextraction with an optical probe.

A new approach of headspace liquid-phase microextraction with an optical probe (HS-LPME-OP), which solves the problem of the extraction phase retention in the hole of the optical probe and provides the possibility of simpler, more precise and reliable online processing of the analytical signal, was used for sulfite determination. A 1 × 10-4 M 5,5'-dithiobis-(2-nitrobenzoic) acid (DTNB) solution was used as an acceptor phase. It was placed in a plastic vial fixed in the headspace above the analyte solution. An optical probe immersed in the acceptor phase was used to monitor the analytical signa

Cross-examination of liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) methods for impurity profiling of methamphetamine.

Impurities in 48 methamphetamine (MA) samples were analyzed by liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) methods. MPS-2 autosampler was used to improve reproducibility of SPME method, and nonadecane (C(19)) diluted with potassium bromide (KBr) powder was used as an internal standard for standardizing retention time. Impurities identified by SPME method showed different patterns compared with LLE method. Non-volatile impurities like methamphetamine dimer were not identified by SPME method, but some volatile impurities like diphenylketone, caprolactam and

Poly(ionic liquid) embedded particles as efficient solid phase microextraction phases of polar and aromatic analytes.

In this work, a facile preparation of SPME fibers with increased surface area is presented. The SPME fibers were prepared by grinding poly(ionic liquids) (PILs) to obtain particles of 1-16 µm and, with the aid of a silicon adhesive, attach these particles to a steel wire support. Three different PILs, poly(1-vinyl-3-benzylimidazolium-co-styrene bromide) [poly(ViBnIm-co-Sty Br)], poly(1-vinyl-3-benzylimidazolium-co-styrene bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide) [poly(ViBnIm-co-Sty TFSI)] and poly(diallyldimethylamine bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide) [poly(Pyrr11 TFSI)], were used. Microfluidic liquid-phase microextraction based on natural deep eutectic solvents immobilized in agarose membranes.

In liquid-phase microextraction (LPME), the sample and the acceptor are separated by a synthetic organic solvent, which is immobilized in a porous polymeric membrane of polypropylene or polyvinylidene fluoride. The organic solvent serves as extraction phase, while the polymeric membrane serves as support membrane. The combination of extraction phase and support membrane is termed supported liquid membrane (SLM). In this paper, we developed for the first time fully green and biodegradable supported SLMs, based on natural deep eutectic solvents as extraction phase and agarose as support membrane

Design and implementation of an automated liquid-phase microextraction-chip system coupled on-line with high performance liquid chromatography.

An automated liquid-phase microextraction (LPME) device in a chip format has been developed and coupled directly to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A 10-port 2-position switching valve was used to hyphenate the LPME-chip with the HPLC autosampler, and to collect the extracted analytes, which then were delivered to the HPLC column. The LPME-chip-HPLC system was completely automated and controlled by the software of the HPLC instrument. The performance of this system was demonstrated with five alkaloids i.e. morphine, codeine, thebaine, papaverine, and noscapine as model analytes.

Development of a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction coupled with magnetic dispersive microsolid phase extraction for determination of triazines in wastewater samples.

The combination of two microextraction techniques (dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction [DLLME] and magnetic dispersive microsolid phase extraction [MDMSPE]) was developed and reported for atrazine and simazine preconcentration from wastewater samples. The proposal methodology involved the use of magnetite supports functionalized with different alkyl or phenyl groups. The magnetic adsorbents were synthesized by the solvothermal method assisted by microwave, characterized, and used in the sample preconcentration of atrazine and simazine. The method validation included parameters such as the

An environmentally friendly strategy for determining organic ultraviolet filters in seawater using liquid-phase microextraction with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

Benzophenone-3, benzophenone-8, and 4-methylbenzylidene camphor are used in sunscreens because they can protect the skin from UV radiation. The widespread use of organic UV filters may mean that they directly or indirectly enter seawater during recreational activities or through sewage discharge. In this study, a simple and efficient method using 1-octanol:isooctane (2:8, v/v) as an extraction solvent and liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry was developed to measure trace levels of organic UV filters in seawater samples. Liquid phase microextraction using knitting wool as the extractant phase holder before chromatographic analysis: a new approach for trace analysis.

In this paper, a novel liquid phase microextraction (LPME) approach was developed in which a piece of knitting wool was used as the extractant solvent holder. Owing to the absorbability of the wool, the extractant could be easily held within the material. When the wool containing the organic solvent was exposed to the sample solution, analytes could directly diffuse from the sample solution to the solvent. Ultraviolet (UV) filters ([2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone (BP-1), benzophenone (BP) and 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone (BP-3)]) were used as model analytes to evaluate the procedure. Parameters
