Proposed mechanisms of low-level light therapy in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia.

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a global challenge, affecting a large number of people worldwide. Efficacy of the existed treatments can barely meet the demands of patients. Patients who are poorly responding to those treatments are seeking for a more effective and suitable technique to treat their disease. Low-level light therapy (LLLT) is a newly developed technique, which has been proved to stimulate hair growth. Based on the function principle of LLLT in other domains and refer to the published literatures, we write this review to neaten and elucidate the possible mechanism of LLLT in the t

3D printing scaffold coupled with low level light therapy for neural tissue regeneration.

3D printing has shown promise for neural regeneration by providing customized nerve scaffolds to structurally support and bridge the defect gap as well as deliver cells or various bioactive substances. Low-level light therapy (LLLT) exhibits positive effects on rehabiliation of degenerative nerves and neural disorders. With this in mind, we postulate that 3D printed neural scaffold coupling with LLLT will generate a new strategy to repair neural degeneration. To achieve this goal, we applied red laser light to stimualte neural stem cells on 3D printed scaffolds and investigated the subsequent

Low-level light in combination with metabolic modulators for effective therapy of injured brain.

Vascular damage occurs frequently at the injured brain causing hypoxia and is associated with poor outcomes in the clinics. We found high levels of glycolysis, reduced adenosine triphosphate generation, and increased formation of reactive oxygen species and apoptosis in neurons under hypoxia. Strikingly, these adverse events were reversed significantly by noninvasive exposure of injured brain to low-level light (LLL). Low-level light illumination sustained the mitochondrial membrane potential, constrained cytochrome c leakage in hypoxic cells, and protected them from apoptosis, underscoring a

Analysis of tear inflammatory proteins following Low-Level light therapy in dry eye disease patients.

PURPOSE: Low-level light therapy (LLLT) in combination with intense pulsed light (IPL) has been shown to improve clinical signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED), as well as tear inflammatory protein levels. However, the therapeutic mechanism of LLLT as a stand-alone treatment remains unclear. This single-arm pilot study aimed to determine the impact of LLLT alone on tear protein levels in patients with DED. METHODS: Study participants received a 15-minute LLLT session once a week for three weeks using the Eye-light® EPI-C Plus device. Clinical measures of DED were assessed, including fir

Repeated low-level red-light therapy for myopia control: An update on efficacy and safety.

Repeated low-level red-light (RLRL) therapy has emerged as an effective intervention for myopia control, yet concerns regarding its safety remain. This review summarizes the current high-level evidence on the efficacy and safety of RLRL therapy. Randomized controlled trials consistently demonstrate that RLRL therapy significantly reduces axial elongation and slows myopic onset and progression in children, with network meta-analyses indicating superior efficacy compared with established interventions. The short-term safety profile appears favorable, and no irreversible damage has been reported.

Low-light-level therapy as a treatment for minimal hepatic encephalopathy: behavioural and brain assessment.

Minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) has been shown to affect daily functioning, quality of life, driving and overall mortality. However, little is known about treating or diagnosing early impairments involved in MHE. We studied one of its precipitating factors, portal hypertension. The purpose was to evaluate an enhancement in neuronal metabolism through low-light-level therapy (LLLT) and whether this therapy has effects on behavioural task acquisition. Rats were trained to perform a stimulus-response task using the Morris water maze. Three groups of animals were used: a SHAM (sham-operated)

Low-Level Light Therapy in Postherpetic Neuralgia: A Review of Mechanistic Insights and Clinical Implications.

Known as the most prevailing complication of herpes zoster (HZ), postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) can lead to long-term skin discomfort. Current medications for PHN remain suboptimal with incomplete relief and potential side effects. Low-level light therapy (LLLT) has been increasingly explored as a non-invasive modality for treating PHN, but the mechanistic basis and clinical implications have not been synthesized in a translational framework. In this review, we explore the pathophysiological mechanisms of PHN and the biological mechanisms of LLLT, integrating current mechanistic insights with av
