At concentrations observed in gastric secretions of gastric ulcer patients (1 to 2 mM), lysoPC induced both functional and morphologic changes in the gastric mucosa. Lysophosphatidylcholine (lyso-PTC), a secondary product of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM)-dependent phosphatidylethanolamine (PTE) methylation, is a potent cytotoxin and might be involved in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). Endometriosis (EM) is an intractable gynecological condition with uncertain etiology. Gut microbiota have been increasingly implicated in EM, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we identify a gut microbe-metabolite-uterus axis that drives EM pathogenesis.
